HaHa nice one DD, the club has planned carefully for life after Subi oval closes so don't hold your breath on that one and as for spititual home, leederville's been great for us, great player and member facilities, can even watch the footy from the bar which is a new thing for us, so was that the thinking for Perth when they left their spiritual home at the WACA to move out to Lathlain in the 50's?

SS, our move to Lathlain in 1959 was to position ourselves in the heartland of our local zones which in those days were very heavily populated with young families. Hence our successes of the 60s and 70s.
We started with only the grandstand. Our social rooms comprised only the very small areas now known as the Redlegs Bar and the Rovers Bar. Our social hall came later in the mid sixties.
Over the years the demographics of our local zones changed dramatically and they are now eroded of young families. Add to that there have been periodic rezonings which have robbed us of some of the newer, growing and fruitful suburbs. Our areas have not seen growth anywhere near to that seen along the coastal belts both north and south of the river.
Perhaps the impending review will address all these matters.

Smokey: The club did the right thing not becoming 'Southern Districts'; all it would have done was split the club with no benefit on the filed.

What year did Perth take over EF old country zone of the North Midlands?....not too sure if the area has been as good to Perth as it was to EF for many years....Squizzy Taylor, Browning, Maxie Johnson, Carrott and I think Peter LeCras were some gooduns to come out of that comp.....though did get O'Meara and Tunbridge for a year or two ......pity the latter was crippled with injuries....

Do Perth have the Central Midlands League as well....or is that WP zone?

Pretty sure Perth has Central Midlands i.e. Lancelin etc.
Not sure exactly when but have had Dongara for some years.
Had a steady stream of players from there.
Rest of the Geraldton League still with EF I think.
So was just Dongara.
