I agree off field we are a gigantic mess but i would also have to question the coaching staff if as Mr AFL says "senior players dont get along" is true.

We are still a basket case no doubt and i cant wait to see what findings and recommendations come from this review.
Maybe they should look to see what West Adelaide did in the SANFL to snare there first flag in 32 years in 2015 coming off a wooden spoon year in 2014.

With more player losses and the AFL draft to come the club will just wheel out the old rebuild crap again, they do treat us supporters like fools.

I'm sympathetic to Earl Spalding the bloke has nothing to work with how does he sell a positive story to the players? Luckily for us he's a former player and his dad was a former president otherwise he probably would have walked by now. Then how can you attract a better option? Spalding can't be judged harshly until he has the cattle at his disposal.

Agree with that DD. Also he hasn’t at all in his three seasons in charge had the chance to atleast get close to selecting his best 22 due to the constant injuries we have had as well.

Question Mr AFL, the injuries you are talking about - are they due to bad luck or due to a poor training program???? Would like your thoughts,

If they are bad luck then your right - Earl hasn't had much of a go at things, but if they are due to bad management/training practices then this needs to be corrected before earl will get some luck

Getting the shit blown out of you out on the field by one of the team leaders doesn't engender much love.

The Lathlain surface is as hard as a rock. That needs to be looked at in relation to the number of injuries we've been coping.

Atkins is a buffoon of the highest order but don't expect any change as the praetorian guard phalanx mobilises at the AGM to tell us all what a wonderful job he's doing and how everything is going to be oh so rosy next year. Can't wait for the President to give us another "If they don't want to play for Perth we don't want them!" justifying the exit of more talent.

If the WAFC was dinkum about helping Perth they'd sack the board and admin and appoint an administrator who has some idea what it takes to get success. I'm won't be holding my breathe on that one.

Yep, I fell real sorry for the coaching team out there including the reserves and colts coaches. They've been given sweet FA to turn this club around.

Is Earl to nice for this bunch that's my concern.
Anyway next season I reckon he'd be wanting to at least be knocking on the door of the 5.

In terms of long term injuries it's been going on for a few seasons now,are we due to look at a new fitness guy or change how we do our preseason work?

PH I believe the club said this year they had a fair bit of contact injuries or whatever they called it. Basically they were saying that these injuries were out of the clubs control and either happened at work or during a split incident during training or a game.

However injuries have been consistent while Earl has been coach and like I have said a fair bit over the last 3-5 months a club such as Perth needs to have the majority of its best 22 available each week to be competitive on game day.

Why we have had so many injuries is anyone’s guess but I believe that as part of this review this question should be asked and try to be rectified for next year. And by the looks of it we will be needing our best players available a hell of a lot otherwise it will another year down the gurgler.

On a side note I see the club has advertised for nominations for the board. Would be interesting to see who or how many people decide to nominate. Would be even better to see those that do nominate actually get a chance to go through to the members vote before the usual “we had a word with them and they have decided to pull out.” If they do go through to the members vote and then the same people still get voted in by the members then so be it.

Nail, head, hit Dazzler.
This season we are arguably going into a new season off the lowest base, both on and off the field, that we have for 60 years.
It will take a mammoth effort just to get us off the bottom of the ladder. What exactly will it take?
Well Dazz you have summed it up perfectly. What I would like to see is the following...
1. WAFC appoint an administrator and a board of management containing at least one PFC representative elected by the members.
2. WAFC select and fund the recruitment of two (2) marquee players, relocation costs and salaries outside the points and salary caps.
3. WAFC select and appoint three specialist staff to co-ordinate all coaching, fitness and recruiting activities and junior/country zone development.
4. PFC to be granted points concessions on recruits from outside the club as well as for current players worth more than 2 points.

IMHO. Earl is the coach to carry on, BUT, please give him what he needs both on and off the field.

To answer those who raised the Centurians Fund. This fund cannot easily be touched. It is bound by a Trust Deed that has watertight restrictions on any use of the funds with conditions on the use of them.

I hope the impending report will properly address all aspects of where and why the club finds itself and arrives at positive action to haul the club out of the mire. Yes the club must accept that it's problems are largely self inflicted over many years but I cannot see it getting out of those problems on it's own.
It will and must have external help to do so or else the WAFL will return to an eight (8) club competition. Perhaps that is what the WAFC wants to see.

So true Mr AFL, you know the place under the current regime well. Been the experience of a few of us. Had a good laugh reading that.
