Realistically Perth should probably either fold up so we can have an even 8 teams in the WAFL or go down to Amateurs as the club has been an absolute joke and a disaster for over 30 years and the future doesn't look good . The players don't look like they care none of the supporters look like they have a clue and the people running the club obviously have no idea so the club should really do the right thing and fold up and stop embarrassing themselves and the WAFL. It's gone on for long enough get out of the comp the club as a whole is hopeless and will be hopeless for many years to come. Get out of the WAFL you bunch of no hopers the club is not worthy of being in the WAFL.

Sounds like bolter is the Merrifield you guys are craving for...the fella to make the tough decisions....perhaps he can wander down to Shark Park and have a word into Wiley's ear about not playing Crichton again this season.

Internal navel gazing wont do the job. Way back in the early 80's, my club did just that, Former Subi great and successful businessman Kevin Merrifield came in and swept the club clean for a complete new start off and on the field. This was before the AFL days and the financial benefits it brought us. Getting Bunton back at the helm was key for the on field stuff and Merrifield set up a structure that was sustainable and put in place a leadership succession plan that saw the club gain quality football and business people as presidents and GM's, the club was debt free by 1987 and had played in 4 GF's for 2 flags by 1988. A strong and ruthless president and board who supports but keeps their distance from the footy department is key. Every WAFL supporter wants to see the D's back in the mix for finals, it can only improve the WAFL.

"A strong and ruthless president and board who supports but keeps their distance from the footy department is key" That sounds exactly like Randall, he is keeping a fair bit of distance from the club now in his position in the ivory tower as he can't afford to be exposed for his past shenanigans :P

Not sure I entirely agree with a strong President keeping his distance.
There needs to be a balance, he needs to be assertive about what is required.
But ruthless in carrying out the plan and in his support of the Football Department.
This means ruthless in providing all the tools necessary.
Nothing short of success acceptable in his aims.
What would we do for a Cliff Houghton right now.
