Just thought I would start a thread on coaches of the Perth fc over the years. Hopefully the two questions below will kick us off.

Whom has been the best? Whom has achieved the most given the players and opposition he faced?

Many will say Armstrong and his effort to get us into and win a final in 1991 looks better every year....

And most will hate me for even mentioning it but who was last coach to get us into double digit wins?

stand the test: thanks for responding. I always liked Ken Armstrong. On your question, Wayne Blackwell?

Was long before my time but Mal Atwell would have to be right up there along with Ern Henfry.
In my days Mal Brown.

I think it was McMahon with 10 wins not Blackwell

Henfrey, Atwell and Armstrong were the most successful coaches of PFC but I think that the question is more pointed to the best coaches of the past dark 40 years.

Perhaps Mal Brown and Wayne Blackwell will be cited by most but I would add the much maligned Andrew Jarman. In his first year we finished 6th and had a reasonable list but we let him down and set him adrift in his second year by not shoring up the list with any recruits and the result was another wooden spoon. IMO he was a very good coach without the cattle to go.

The worst ??? Imo without doubt Wiley, Mullooly, Glascott, Eastaugh and the biggest nightmare.. McMahon

I've heard from a few that Magro was very much respected. Would give you a spray but would be the first to put an arm around you after the game.

30plus your 100 per cent right om Mcmahon -- thanks

Mr AFL -- I have also heard good things about Magro

Smokey: some good thoughts on Jarman, especially given his circumstances. How would you rate Magro and Spalding?

I'm going to lean towards Mal Brown circa 1986 - he managed to build a fearsome unit that really could have got to the Grand Final

He did lure at least three decent ex-Bulldogs across to Lathlain like Stephen Mount , the late Chris Stasinowsky , Rodney Grljusich , Warren Mosconi
