What a magnificent effort to get the 4 points away from home against an East Perth side with 8 AFL listed players. Yes Peel had a few listed players but the improvement this year compared to last season is significant. The local lads are playing well and the Freo listed boys appear to have bought in to the game plan.

It would be great for the comp to see Peel in the finals.

Just for a bit of perspective 14 Freo blokes is more than 'a few listed players' RD!
The local lads as you termed them is a some total of 2- Mathers & Hancock the other non Freo blokes come from other WAFL clubs (eg Jones, Jetta, Garlett et al plus both Gill & Lawler are both ex SDFC Colts players) that the WAFC has allowed this by bending the original alignment rules for this club only in the hope it makes their continual investment in Peel seem somewhat worthwhile!
For a club who's original charter was to grow the game in the area & allow the Peel youngsters the chance to play WAFL League footy 2 players in a team of 22 isnt exactly serving its original intent now is it!

They might as well ground share with South Fremantle at the kennel until the facility at Cockburn is ready. Seems a bit unfair on the majority of players who are not from the Peel district and have to go to Mandurah to get a game. They will probably make the finals but unfortunately their rise will be 95% down to the assistance they receive from the Dockers.

I can't believe it but your right BH I never gave up on you. Be under no illusions Peel won yesterday because they had a better game plan and more talent plain and simple. Is it good for The WAFL that's debatable is it great for Freo you bet it is. Even though the salary cap is reduced the likes of Jones and Jetta must be on big dollars because it has to go somewhere.

How can anyone delude themselves to think that the team that purports to be Peel is anything other than Fremantle?

How about this for a nightmare scenario: Peel play Subiaco in the Grand Final and Fremantle have made the AFL Grand Final and Freo refuse to release 10-12 players to play for "Peel" in the WAFL Grand Final. How big will the crowd be for the WAFL Grand Final under those circumstances?

At least Peel represents a defined area and you know exactly where that area is and I would bet you anything that 10 times more players who play for Peel in all grades live in the Peel area than most other clubs. How many Claremont players live in Claremont probably 1 or 2. Same for Subiaco and South and East Freo . No East Perth Players live in East Perth I would be certain and their home ground is in West Perth what a joke. The biggest joke club of all though is a club called West Perth that is based no where near West Perth and in fact in far Northern Perth. At least Swan Districts represents a defined area also and Perth can also claim the whole city as their area probably.
If you live in the Peel area you know exactly where you are from and who your Wafl club is. You can't say that about most Wafl clubs in Perth. All Wafl clubs get most of their players from outside their area so it doesn't matter where your players come from when they pull on a jumper they are your players.

mmmmm yes, the WAFL have gone ahead in leaps & bounds since Peel came in.

In nearly 20 years Peel have never made finals, sucked countless $$$ out of the system, and now may claim prominence by having a team 70% full of Dockers players. This is how you justify their existence?

And you have the nerve to pull this piss out of traditional clubs logistics? Clubs that have been around over 120 years and have made their own mark, even through the initial impact of a national league back in 1987.

Your comments are an insult and probably sum up a lot about why WAFL footy is where it is these days.

Not much of what you say might be true, in this day and age the likelihood of a player going through to 150 or more games with the same club is becoming more and more rare.

As for peel representing a defined area all the teams do, but peel is made up of not many players from your district, once they finish colts they go elsewhere, baldivis, Mundijong and Mandurah and they top up from othe clubs spending the money the WAFC gives them.

The restriction on ERT ensure that the players who aren't weagles have to be EP district players and all that played on saturday in all three levels were from EP district.

Good win yes but even I understand that the level of bias against the WAFL teams is so pronounced that it is unfair.

The only 2 players out there on Saturday who should consider themselves as being a step away from AFL selection are Blakely and Colledge

Grump in your opinion how close is Blakely to being picked in Freo's first team?

Why can't these 2 a$$ole teams play each other every week?? they could even have their own pretend Grand Final..
Another idea is to play it just before every AFL game at Subi, this would be great!

Then Channel Eagles...I mean 7, can telecast this game every week, that's all their really interested in anyway isn't it? :side:
