So, with Johnson's retirement, who's going to carry the ruck duties?

Lycett's out, so presumably Giles will get AFL duties, probably Vardy too.

Is Jones up to playing at league level?

Jones should go fairly well at league level. If he gets a chance with all the Eagles dead wood around. He was picked to debut last year but woke up and couldn't walk.

Fair point Dazz. Ruckmen are seriously in demand across the WAFL at the moment, and there isn't really that many of them going around. Will be interesting to see how several teams manage this.

Fraser McInnes, Drew Petrie, and Eric Mckenzie are other options you may have.

Johnson was the best ruck in the WAFL last year and now i think EP maybe even better in this department in 2017.

In the 18's that both he and Darcy Cameron where in the side Scott was down as number one ruchman but broke his leg at Pritchard Park, he then injured himself the next season and last year was due to play League. He had hurt his foot the previous week and was told by Trainer that he was fine just ice it, went to DR to check for an injection on the day and was told to get it x-rayed, fracture. I f he had been managed correctly by HT then he would have known and whilst not been able to play he would have received correct treatment and not trained.

I reckon that Scott should play league this year he will do really well.

I hope Jones gets a chance.
Holding out young guys because key positions are taken by Eagles is the big downside to the alignment.

Johnson was a great WAFL player, and although he wasn't originally a Royal, I've still been glad to have him around these past few years.

It will be interesting to see what the Eagles do Petrie, Vardy, and McInnes. If they want to groom all those guys as ruckmen, that would probably keep Jones out of the league team until injuries hit.
But then I suppose the question becomes one of who will line up as our Tall Forwards?
