None of the above. They could not hold a candle to Monty as umpires.
Blokes like Sheedy and Brownie hated him because he took no sh*t from them.

If you had to choose an umpire to umpire a game, there are only 2 you choose.

There has not been a decent umpire (other than Capes) since the 2 umpire system was introduced in the late seventies.

DF the standard of umpiring fell away quickly with the 2 umpire system and now with 3 umpires there is no standard at all except diabolical.
These days the umpires are not taught the number one criterion for an umpire...ie COMMONSENSE

I think you are confusing someone who would make sure you knew who hit and why as opposed to someone who would hit you from behind and runaway, Meirs of subi comes to mind in that category.

Sheedy was a hard man just like most of the other good players of the day.
