I agree, it is always over rated to sign up the reigning Bernie Naylor medalist as a one point player after the team president has deemed him the number one target in the media.

And that contract would have been signed to play for EP not the West Coast Eagles Reserves Team ..blame your mate Bronte for bending over for Nisbett because now that contract is not worth 2 cents!! :P

i am still to read any outcome of whether all contracts signed before East Perth shacked up with the Eagles are null and void, whether there are clearance fees for players leaving the Eagles, what the points allocation and salary cap will be.
does anyone know if the clubs have been informed of any of this yet ?

Pretty sure clubs were informed. There was something in the paper awhile ago, I think, might be wrong, that salary cap is $60,000 less, and any club caught out talking to players without going through correct channels face a fine of $10,000.

Whatever is in place the WAFC and the AFL clubs will change the ground rules anytime it suits them. Players can't break a contract to play at rival clubs unless their current club allows it which happens often.

still doesnt explain whether contracts signed by Peel and East Perth are valid as they were signed under different conditions..
no WAFL club or player would have the coin to challenge it anyway..

MO from the little I know, it would appear that the league squad(including most ressies) are contracted players for next year.

The question is then, if a player wants to leave he would need to go to the club tell them he wants out, they would then have to decide if he is a required player and the decision would sprout from there!

I have not been near the club so far but will start colts training on the 16th so perhaps then I can find out some rumours from the source and let folks know what is the situation.

I did hear one rumour at an end of year function and that was the weagles were going to have some input into the list, true or not I can only suggest that it was a rumour from a VB soaked person. It would not surprise me at all, I just hope they stay away from the colts!
