Thought the 3rd quarter umpiring was shocking. I know EP supporters won't say anything in fear of complaining but as a neutral I feel I can say it.

The reversal kick on the wing after EP got a free and 50m was the turning point. From then on WP kicked 8 of 9 or whatever it was and the run and flow had gone. Umpires also paid WP 3-4 tiggy ones for in the back in that quarter that weren't there in the hard contested game. Bit ordinary I though - and I hate EP.

I was there too as a neutral, but barracking for WP and I wholeheartedly disagree. East Perth got a free ride I thought from the umps, particularly early, and if it wasn't for 6 or 7 seagull goals the margin would have been even greater. East Perth were never really in the contest, WP played with spirit, EP were looking around waiting for others to do the work
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

I wasn't a neutral and the reversal was a little pathetic, I think the umpires did not want anything go further, in general if you are first to the ball, play in front, attack the ball and put your head over it ..........

No matter what Dawson, or any member of the club formerly known as East Perth says the fact remains that you have got into bed with one of the devils incarnate, West Coast Eagles, and were you win the GF tomorrow it would forever have an asterisk against the name of the GF winner. It is not only about personnel, but also the additional infrastructure that the devils incarnate bring that will taint any premiership victory. Sad for you but also true.

and another well informed and reason comment from another one of the muppets, what is it like having Jims (Henson) up your rrr's all the time you want to say something!

Grump, no matter what you think of the above comment by Swan 42 (and I happen to disagree with his point of view). I think your response to it is a little hypocritical as you have been criticising people for juvenile and inane responses to the alignment issue and I see your comment above as exactly the same. You can't have it both ways.

and I agree with you, it was a moment of anger that should not have been put in print, I have tried but I am a fallible as the next person, why do I barrack for EP (cos the first wanfl game I saw was EP Vs Swans at Lotons and my sire barracked for Swans and so ........ )

I apologise for the stupidity!

All good mate, I thought that might be the case as it was so different from all your other posts which are always interesting to read. I also empathise with you and Jardine, Chaddy and all the other 'true blue' EP supporters who have had to cop a fair bit of vitriol and abuse from some posters about a decision that your club made, even though most of you have said you disagree with the alignment.
Enjoy the grand final. I believe it is a genuine contest between two very good WAFL teams. Next year will be different but that is another story.

I have tried to keep my posts regarding the host club alignment as reasoned as possible. I have a great deal of sympathy and empathy for the traditional East Perth supporters and have expressed same in some of my postings. I happen to know a couple who are well into the 80s who are devastated with what has transpired at East Perth. Certainly if it had happened at Swan Districts I would have found it impossible to continue to support them as it would have meant that Swans no longer existed.

As I mentioned in another topic the fact that the GF could only get a tick over 20,000 (albeit the weather wasn't good) is another indication, in my opinion, of what impact the host club alignment has had on the WAFL.

On oerhaps the one positive note it was interesting to hear one of the ABC commentators toward the end of the broadcast thank the people for supporting the ABC's coverage and that they will be doing it again in 2014. Obviously not an official statement but it was a positive that it was said.

Yeah i purposely watched the telecast to the very end to see if there was some comment on this matter & thankfully it was a positive one.

Swan42 my comment above was not directed at you. Your views are always based on the issues and don't get personal. I was more talking about posters who have taken out their frustrations about the alignment out on individual East Perth supporters most of whom have declared their opposition to what their club has done, as Jardine did so powerfully in another thread.

Last nights speeches back at Leederville belonged in an election campaign they were that average. Wasn't the best time to be talking about the agreement after such a poor effort.
