Australian, Scorchers and Western Australian fast bowler is the grandson of 1957 East Fremantle premiership player Oscar Howard. Oscar gave great service to the EFFC club, always willing to give advice and support with a great sense of humour.

Custy, back in the deep, dark, distant past, I seem to recall Oscar Howard was one of the around-the-grounds men (maybe with 6pm?) during Saturday arvo's WAFL coverage.
I assume Oscar is still with us.

Sadly Oscar passed away about 10 - 15 years ago.

I'm sorry to hear that, Custodian.
In hindsight, I should've Googled his name before I posted my query.
Nonetheless, Oscar Howard was a great stalwart of EFFC and the WAFL in general.

I worked with Oscar (as well as Laurie Nugent & Trizzie Lawrence) at an Oil Company in North Fremantle in the late 1980's. All absolutely fantastic fellows. And boy, did I cop it sweet from them, me being East Perth.

I actually sat in with Oscar on one of his radio Round-the-grounds at Perth Oval. I was going to do the same one day at Lathlain Park until I was kicked out of the broadcast box by an East Perth supporting Perth City Councillor.

And Archie, I'm almost certain it was 6PR

Great stories there, one time only - you were certainly up against it working with three Old Easts' stalwarts from the 1950s/60s.
Regards being ejected from the broadcast box by the EP-supporting PC councillor, perhaps we should call you "Corn Flakes".
I think Melbourne sports journo Patrick Smith dubbed Grant Thomas "Corn Flakes" after Malcolm Blight tipped him out of the St Kilda coaches box back in 2001.

This is from Wikipedia, strono.

"Will forever be remembered for his last minute goal in the 1957 Preliminary Final to help his beloved club to the 1957 Grand Final and eventually Premiership, Ray "Oscar" Howard played 157 games for East Fremantle from 1955-1963. Howard played 4 state games during his career and later served as a Director of the Club from 1986 to 2002 and was Vice-President from 1991 to 1999."
