thing is Mark, SD aint the only club doing it.....Subi and SF have done it all year with some fantastic results......interesting to see also that these 3 clubs have had minimal distraction from AFL boys playing most weeks......I reckon EF haven't been able to put more colts thru due to the likes of regular AFL boys playing league, thus placing the 2nd tier boys back into the reserves ......thus resulting in the colts boys staying in the colts......pretty hard for a colt to get a gig with 4 - 5 AFL boys playing......

anyway with the alignment finishing this year, I have no doubts a few of EF colts will be gaining more opportunities in the higher grades......I am a big fan of pushing the colts boys thru to higher grades....

out of interest 42.....howz Newmans progress been with SD this year?....you guys bleated on a fair bit how staying at Steel blue would be a better option for the kid than going to EP......is he injured still and is he still in WCE thoughts.....perhaps Cameron and Garlett for Dick and Newman at the end of the year?

The situation with respect to Newman is unfortunate and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment considering the circumstances he is currently facing. I respect the rules of sub judice and as such won't make any further comment.

My comments with respect to the premise the alignment argument is based on indicate that I do not believe the premise is correct. In fact I would go so far as to suggest that the host club alignment may in fact be counter productive in some cases.

42, hopefully Newman doesn't get lost from footy like a couple of those indigenous boys from WCE/Cl did recently.....and Cl have a good reputation for developing and nuturing talent.....some times all the guidance in the world counts for nothing....you got to be prepared to embrace it first.......still only young, hopefully still time for the fella......that's if WCE haven't washed their hands of him and are looking else where.....like Cameron or Garlett......

...unless Dick gets a game for WCE this weekend, I reckon his spot on the WCE list will be very much under threat over the off season....WCE will definitely have an eye on a few replacements for the likes of Nicoski, Embley, Selwood and an ageing Cox.

All the best to the EF guys this week. They deserve to be in the four especially if they win this one. Unfortunately it could be only 1 game in t he finals as the WC Royals will have a few Eagles in..for the Semi.
But as they say ONE WEEK AT A TIME

The way I see it EP will def Subi and go into 3rd :( EF will def CLA and move into 4 SD will lose to WP and drop out of 4 due to percentage. WATCH THIS SPACE ;)

Had a bit of a conversation with Swandog as I said EF had a better record that CLA recently and he gave me overall stats. I did a bit of research and since 2011 EF have no done to badly v CLA... Heres a paste of my post to him.

..

Swandog not going back that far just last couple of years as team lineups at both clubs very similar. EF will be looking at getting a couple of players back if they are lucky from AFL.

Well last game in Kunnanurra was pretty close from memory CLA v EF

CLA def EF 98 to 95 points

In 2012 EF def CLA at EF 122 to 88 at EF
In the GF EF gave CLA a 9 goal start and almost came back and won it!!

If you want to got back to 2011 EF won 2 out of the 3 encounters by large margins AT EF OVAL.. www.wafl.com.au/games

EF are quite capable of winning this game as first HOME game for them this year and if they do and we beat SD it is end of season for SD.. Interesting round anyway
Sure EP will def Subi? Or they should with players like Smith back

Honestly not concerned as it is a non event for WP but it would be nice to go into finals with a Win v Swans. If we lose it will be a good run for our guys. ;)

Best of luck on Saturday looking forward to a torrid encounter and a great game of footy.

"They deserve to be in the four" Dont know about that Cardy, Swans and the Ferals deserve their spot more than EF, they have been up and down like a porn star !

TBH the only two teams which deserve finals footy are Cl and WP......can't see how you think EF have been up and down like a porn star leedy.....

....the only bad game they have played all year was the SF game....other than the Cl loss by 42 pts, all the other losses have been under 4 goals......with two of those under a goal.....EF have had 4 wins by over 10 goals.....not too sure how that compares with SD and EP, but compared with last year EF have been indeed down.

The side is up on the WAFL site....Howson out and Brennan out....Hadley still in but I thought he had done his knee.....interesting to see no Dalziell or Sheppard for WCE...I guess time will tell if they are late inclusions.....Cl look like usual, will dominate the ruck, thus containing the likes o Murphy, Blackwell and Foster will be crucial.....big ask to win, but I guess if you want to play finals that is what a side must do.

Subi means business in the colts they have dropped back Wood....thus another big ask for EF colts to get over Cl colts and by a margin atleast 4 - 5 golas greater than if Subi win over EP......for me EF reserves are knackered can see at least 4 - 5 colts names in the list.....thus supplies of fit players must be low in the EF camp at present....

prediction for the weekend.....atleast one of EF grades to sneak a finals berth at the finishing post.....which one it will be..... will be anyones guess!!

I see Sheppard & Dalziell have been dropped by WC and Carter named as 1st emergency.
Handy ins if both players come in.

Colts are less than 1% out the 4 so not too sure how many more points we need to win by than what Subi does, but I'm guessing it isn't that much. Either way we need to get our kicking boots on and be more accurate because Claremont will be a lot tougher than our last 2 opponents.

Ressies can still make it but our current injury toll will make it a tough ask.

Link from the clubs facebook page of all our injuried players. Not good reading.

Freeze, I think you are spot on in saying that only Claremont & West Perth deserve their places in the finals, having held the top 2 spots all year. I would say that both Swans & the Sharks have been up & down like a yoyo this season. I did see last week's game against Swans as winner takes all & given they have rolled us in both games this year, they would be stiff to be knocked out of finals for us to take their place. East Perth have surprisingly tapered off late in the Season, losing against WP, CL & SF in recent weeks.

I think that we will be hard pressed to make any of the 3 grades. The Claremont League & Colts sides have only dropped 2 games each all season & will want to go into finals in winning form.

Unfortunately when we fell to 5 wins from 13 games, there was little margin for error & the 1 game we could not afford to lose was last week's.

I hope the club addresses the issues of bolstering their ruck stocks & recruiting a key power forward for next season.
