Bottom line is that these perrenial losers have waited until 2018 and the removal of transfer fees to pull the first stealth act - thus ensuring the coin goes directly to the AFL revenue stream & eventually back to themselves

I don't understand the fuss.
An 18 year old is not going to play colts at Claremont. He might play league at Peel. He might get drafted by Peel (exercising their NGA draftee rights) or by another club if Peel pass.
If he doesn't get drafted he goes back to Claremont. He may or may not play league with Claremont.
If he does get drafted his draft fee goes to WAFC (which it would if he got drafted out of Claremont colts)
what's Claremont lost?

I completely understand the frustration from Claremont fans on this one... but if you dig into the details, there’s little doubt that this move is what’s best for the kid, and that’s the most important thing here.

Jason was boarding at a school in Perth, he’s now no longer at school so without access to the AFLs host family scheme the likelihood is that he returned to the Kimberley for a year untill the draft...

NO WAY IN A MILLION YEARS, Would any AFL club let that happen to a kid the have put resources into developing and barring disaster, will commit to in 2019. The playing at Peel on a permit so he can be observed closer under the freo eyes and has the full support of an AFL clubs resources available to him. Yes Claremont miss having him for a year (minus state duties and associated draft year nonsense) but the reality is.... the tigers don’t really miss out on much, no draft fees to clubs, he’s a Claremont player after September so he’s automatically reverted to Claremont post AFL career, then you get his services or a transfer fee.

So really Claremont only lose maybe a dozen colts games from him, then it’s business usually from a draftee.

Stephen Coniglio shows how fundamentally wrong you and TTrain are.

Thanks Swan. If your point is that Coniglio played league (& finals) you could rely on Aaron Naughton as another example. But I'm struggling to think of many 18 y.o who play league (and most of the ones I have thought of have played only a handful of games) (I haven't reviewed all the records so I could be wrong). But your one example does not prove that my view is fundamentally wrong (or even wrong). I am also taking into account the new WAFC management of all colts, which I suspect makes it less likely that the rare 18 yo who might have played league will do so now. If anyone can add to Swan's list please let me know.

Daniel Rich at Subi in 2007 is one that springs to mind. Started season in the colts but ended up as a league premiership player and played a significant part in that finals series especially against South's in the preliminary final. I see the point in Fremantle doing what is best for Taylor in terms of a future afl career but where is the fairness to Claremont in doing this? They don't seem to have been considered. They may have been able to arrange a host family too and provided him with other support but this has not been explored?
All this does now is to further weaken the integrity of the WAFL competition.]

Connor Blakely a year of league footy as an 18 year old.
Swans 2008 GF had Nic Nat, Yarran, Garlett, Notte, Banfield and Pearce all playing as 17 or 18 year olds.
Powell-Pepper played a league final in 2016.
a decision made to please Fremantle, integrity of the WAFL competition is irrelevant.
How Claremont do not get some form of compensation for this is a joke.

Far from that Mark - the perennial losers have waited until this year to ensure they paid nothing to Claremont & made sure zero was filtered back into our league
