New players, new coach and new ground, opposition clubs will have a bit of homework to do when playing us next season. I haven't been to the showgrounds since the wild mouse and the chipmunk were the hottest rides in town, with the western round up being the prime vomit producer, but looking at the oval on google earth this is going to be quite a unique wafl ground. Looks like it will be significantly wider than most grounds, and definitely the shortest. The 50m line may be right on the centre square. Could throw a spanner in some teams defensive zone set ups, and could pose a challenge for Broadbridge playing on such a different sized ground from week to week.

Last time I saw football at the show grounds was the 1968? pre Season WAFL competition played under lights won by Old Easts. Unfortunately it was not a good precursor to the regular season as we just beat Swan Districts for the wooden spoon! East Freo won 2 games, both against Swans and Swans won 1 game that year against East Freo!

I have one of the Budgets from that series, Custodian. Cost 5c. Nothing has ever cost 5c at the Showgrounds since!

Does anyone know how the showgrounds are shaping up for next season. Will the facilities be better than Claremont oval. I hope so. I take it that there will be good standard lighting for night matches. If so Claremont should play some pre season and early season matches under lights.

Strong word that one of your candidates for Pres does beleive in the Showgrounds. You could stil be playing at East freo or Leederville on sundays.

I'm not a Claremont supporter, just checking on the showgrounds situation. I certainly hope they don't play at EF oval. It's bad enough having to go there to watch Perth play EF once or twice a year.
