I got sent this today. Can’t remember ever seeing scores this high in the AFL. Swans V Subi would have been phenomenal to watch!!

SD 40.11 251 to S 20.7 127

Only other scores like it in league footy were SF 40.18 258 to WP 12.6 78 two years later - and Glenelg 49.23 317 in 1975 v Central Districts

As a young fella I remember watching some of it on the telly but most of it was on the Sunday Footy show - Mark Olsen got 13 I think & Ken Marshall or Gary Buckenara got a few for Subi who had a big last half to get to 20
Remember that JT was filthy that they got to 20

Good bloke - at one time he was a Ford man well selling them anyway , very humourous guy very dry sort , unfortunately for Mark , Simon Beasley came onto the scene very quickly & forced him out

I got sent a photo of him in a WA jumper too so must have played against the vics??

6 of the 8 teams scored 20 goals or more that day!! how bloody good! (1 was 18 but close enough)

He definitely made at least one squad for a game against South Australia - 1979 was a Carnival year too mate so there were a few games against the various States including Tasmania & Queensland

Oh and Beas' will tell you that Swan Districts came within a whisker of knocking that score of 40.11 off in 1981 against Perth when they racked up 38.21 - 249
