When did Ken Smith coach EF?....and who was Ken Smith?

Ken Smith coached East Fremantle to seventh in 1981, oobisoobi, following in the footsteps of Brad Smith (1979-80).
I'm not sure if he was the Ken (Kenneth William) Smith who played 15 games for East Perth (1972-74), the Ken (Kenneth Gifford) Smith who played 19 games for South Fremantle (1970-71), or the Ken (Kenneth Alexander) Smith who played 47 games for West Perth (1968-71).
From memory, he was too young to be the Ken (Kenneth John) Smith who played for Perth in the 1950s or the Ken (Kenneth Albert) Smith who played for East Freo in the 1940s.
Ric Gauci's Footy Facts website certainly has a lot of good WAFL info.

Not sure it was one of them, think we came from over the east coast (maybe Tassie). Played A grade ammos in early/mid 70's. I thought he was supposed to be one of the Murray Ward ilk, the type who masterminded everything while the playing coach was out on the ground.

At least East Fremantle won't have to put up with any more posters suggesting what a danger game it is when you play the Sharks and how you need to be on your game to play them.

In answer to the topic Yes, I have been watching WAFL football since the late seventies and not seen this proud club at its lowest point in this time.
The physical aspects of the club look tired and the mechanics of the club on and off the football field look tired. Needs a massive injection of life and excitement on an off the oval. One can only hope that the changes being talked about ie new coach , injection of past great players in admin etc will be the catalyst for change next year.

Ken Smith was Mal Brown's 2ic/assistant coach in the SF Premiership in 1980 then obviously went on to coach EF the next season (his only year at EF).
Is he the Ken Smith that previously played with Brownie at EP in the early 70s or the SF version or one of the many other Ken Smith's from WAFL footy from the 1950s to the 70s??????

What the hell are you talking about...this is the worst result for EFFC since 1898 when you only managed 1 win for the season.

Under Smith the worst he did was 3 wins and a percentage of 70 odd...

You had 2 and a shockingly poor 50 odd % this year..which is miles worse.
