This might sound a bit simple but im pretty sure West Perth will be fine with no need to merge. Given the historical nature of the information released I am guessing that West Perth will claim their finances have been "mismanaged" and potentially the board were mislead on the true state of its debts.
New CEO has come in , proves WP are viable and produces a sturdy financial plan for the future. WAFC gives them a loan to get them out of immediate trouble to be re-payed over the course of 10 years.

It sounds to me tuggers that someone in authority at WP has been doing something a bit shonky when $300k of recurring debt is not shown on the books. The new CEO had to expose it so the club could go to the WAFC with their hand out...I find it curious that neither WP nor the WAFC has come out and said what it was and why it was hidden.

Wasn’t David Crute the previous WP CEO when this debts was accumulated. He has recently taken up a senior position in the WAFL. Umpires Coordinator apparently?

Dead right there, 300K would of been on the books normally, this clearly goes back a few years.

In such a scenario Peel would have little reason to exist - no history - no channel for colts - no Fremantle alignment.

It has been suggested should this happen that the WAFL would merge with the WAAFL and if everyone can hang on until this happens then all clubs could survive - how ever they would need to 'downgrade' themselves and get used to playing and existing at a different level.

A full national AFL reserves comp would be the final death knell for the WAFL, it would lose all status and funding and be totally irrellevant even mediocre players would be lured away to play in other states for any number of AFL reserves squads that would pay very well, there would be no draft funds coming WAFLs way and the WAFC funding for alignment would end, there would be no revenue at all.

The only hope would be for a merger with Ams as a amatuer comp. With a divesting of most assets to survive as a minor community based amatuer comp played at suburban grounds.

I also find it interesting that apparently the new CEO went back to 2012 in pulling apart the finances of the club which coincides with the statute of limitations on debt in WA....unless of course WP acknowledged the debt in the interim whereby the statute doesn't work.

The only solace in the above scenario would be that there would be considerable downsizing not only in numbers but also in salaries of those at the the WAFC. The first to be downsized to $0 should be Gavin Taylor.

A good point in that if you continue to follow this scenario, without a 'relevant' WAFL , what would be the point of the existence of the WAFC - may as well let the AFL run the show. The current situation is a nice little facade for those thieves and charlatans to earn good money while screwing us over.

Guys I don't mean to sound flippant. What is the current value of having the so called commission?
