Trying to make some sense with the Bye.
We’ve moved into the second half of the season which sees Subiaco and Swan Districts have currently had 2 Byes each.
Then West Perth (in week eight), Perth (week 6), Claremont (week 2) and South Fremantle (opening fixture) have had 1 Bye each.
Up to this point, East Fremantle has not had a Bye and their first will be in week 12.
It seems strange that 2 teams have already had 2 Byes and yet in the corresponding time, another team has not had any?
East Fremantle goes for 11 fixtures without a Bye and then has 3 in 10 weeks. East Fremantles Byes are on fixtures 12, 15 and 18 which are spaced closely together
Given the Wafl clubs are supposedly consulted and apparently have input to the fixtures prior to the season, I wonder what East Fremantle’s thinking was?
Just finding it a bit strange.

Absolutely agree - the other baffling decision is that some teams have already played each other twice well before the half way point , just proves the WAFC are dickheads of the highest calibre

When the idiots, and I apologise to idiots, in the WAFC think that it is reasonable or fair to schedule a match where one team has had a bye the week before plays a team that played on the Monday what hope have you got to?

Further to add with the fixturing, South has played EF & C twice before playing Perth & Peel once.
Work that one out WAFC?

Guys on this one it is all souths and easts fault. They argued that fixtures start with foundation derby being pencilled in, fair enough. Then they said we want Anzac Day velvet year, wafc said ok. Then they said we want three derbies a year and wafc said ok. This throws everything out and causes every problem you note. And by the way no one has to play anyone off a 5 day break unless your oppo wants to play on a Monday. Sf wanted to play on the Monday, ef would do exactly the same. If they want to play on the sat of foundation day weekend no one will stop them.

So swan42 if you are talking about ef v subiaco you are bit off, that happens because ef (and sf) insist on playing on the Monday. But the wider issue is everyone gets fuct over cos they lock in three derbies and then fit everyone else in.

Much obliged S t T, makes it clearer.
Had East Fremantle been in the top part of the league ladder or been pushing up and been getting close to one of the top spots, i can't see how having 3 Byes all close together would be good.
With the remaining 11 fixtures, East Fremantle are in reality only playing 8.

The logical solution for the Saturday after the June long weekend Monday derbies is to have (1) EP play EF and WP play SF or (2) EP play SF and WP play EF.
But that would be far, far too logical for the WAFC to schedule.
