An interesting footy series starts tonight on NITV at 7pm.
Tonights episode 1 is on the incomparable Graham 'Polly' Farmer.
Should be good viewing.

The first episode on Polly Farmer was a wonderful way to start this series. The program was a fitting tribute to the best footballer ever to play the game.
Bill Dempsey's contribution was sincere and emotional. In keeping with his comments on Mel Whinnen the night before.
A truly moving experience to see Polly's difficult upbringing and his brilliant career as a player, coach and human being.
Greatest respect to a great man.

Thanks for the heads up BH - will definitely try to find this. Season 1 contains 4 episodes. Polly sounds like an excellent starting point with the other episodes Barry Cable, Jim and Phil Krakouer and Nicky Winmar.

Great story on Cabes. From the early days in Narrogin to his CC of Ep in 1978.And then the tractor accident. Think he had another few years in him as a player/Coach.

I tend to agree mate if it wasnt for that horrific tractor accident on his Orange Grove farm which shredded his leg apart I reckon Cabes would have continued on as a player/coach at EP (or maybe back to Perth) for a few more seasons and given the 500 game milestone a nudge.
Cabes certainly was a terrific player and a household name back then, gee wasnt that accident massive news at the time back in 79/80 even as a 5yo I remember it quite vividly.
