Just found out Alan East passed away Saturday January 20. Alan's contribution to football was immense. He was the editor of Westside Football and the Football Budget and published history books on Perth, East Perth and Swan Districts, as well as serving on the inaugural WAFL Hall of Fame meetings.
He was so widely regarded for what he did for the WAFL that some years ago former Swan Districts president John Cooper nominated Alan to be included in the WAFL Hall of Fame, an offer graciously declined by Alan.
It was a privilige to have worked with him on the Swan Districts 75 years book.
Alan East, small in stature, a giant of WAFL football.
RIP Alan

Rest In Peace, Alan East.
As outlined by swansfan4life, Alan was a great contributor to WAFL coverage and then the league's history.
Fully agree with chaddy22 that the East Perth history book, co-written with Bill Forrest and Gary Stocks, is an absolute beauty, as I'm sure the Perth and Swans books are.

Sad news as we lose another icon from our WAFL halcyon days.
Thankfully I can look back on my old Westside Football copies and WAFL history books to remember some of his fine work over many years.
R.I.P Alan

Vale to one of the very few remaining stalwart protectors of our local WANFL competition - unlike many of his contemporaries Easty remained staunch to his WA footy roots and , as mentioned , kept everything that went past his desk safely stored away for antiquity.
My sincere condolences to his family & friends - his type of football journalist will never be forgotten by the ones who matter

Made all the sadder by him not getting to see his Royals free from the clutches of West Coast.
