That was Alan Quartermaine from EP, not John from Perth.

It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

I would make the Perth League team watch the last quarter of 1977 before every game until the club breaks its premiership drought.

Freezin: that is true, but I would be doing it as a punishment. I would stop it as soon as they won, because after winning the flag, they would become the the true greats of the PFC, similar to the 1955 side.

Demons 8 grand finals over 13 years ( 1966 to 1978) = 5 flags, 3 r/u, 2 prelims, several Colts and Ressies flags.
Those were the golden years. After that the curse of the 40 year drought and still counting.

Perth lads and gtr: I have often wonderred why they got rid of Ken Armstrong at the end of 1979, The more general answer is lack of talent.

Ark once spoke to a Perth player from the 60's.He told me Armstrong though everyone blamed him for the narrow loss in 78.People who know more than me would have to answer that.Did he coach badly on the day,was there some bad selections for that wet day?????

At Perth we call the 1978 Grand Final God's Premiership.
Perth kicked into a very strong breeze in first quarter and won the quarter easily thanks to Peter Bosustow.
At the start of the second quarter the wind dropped and the heaviest of rain downfalls killed the game for the Demons. Allowed East Perth to claw back by half time and they had the breeze again in the third term.
It was even until the last change when we should have had the breeze but again God intervened and the wind dropped and heavy rain again persisted for the quarter.
Perth tried very hard to bridge a narrow gap but were thwarted by a very determined East Perth led by Bradley Smith and held us off.
That 40 year curse...was it God's Curse?

Was there a mistake in not taking Cable and Miller back into the fold at Perth when they returned from the VFL rather than letting them go to East Perth instead?? I got the feeling at the time that they were confident in the strength of their side that they couldn't fit those two into their plans. Probably one of the worst decisions of all time?
