Be interested to see how Bennell performs for SD, didn't seem to do much when back at EP, touch wood the move back home to Basso will spark his motivation again...definitely will be a litmus test for 42's theory that players being happier playing for their club of origin rather than Peel or EP.

The higher points tally could apply to say top four clubs on these players as a means of equalisation . Messy I know but just a thought.

Blakey is a young player with hopefully an afl career in front of him. His motivation would be to say to Freo ,hey I can perform in the big games and I'm worth a place in the team.

Blakely aint going anywhere, he would be part of freo's future plans, tall midfielder with reasonable pace fearless and knows how to get the footy, just needs to tidy up his disposal.

jjim: I am happy to try equalisation polices, such as the one you mentioned, but I would not include the top four clubs. In doing so, we would be hitting the bottom clubs as they moved up the ladder, making the equalisation policy almost self-defeatting. I would keep the policy tightlly aimed at the top two clubs each year.
