err, not sure about this idea. If it was being led by the Club representatives, it would be better. au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/291550...rs-twenty20-concept/ is the link

I think taking positive action at the obvious current problems would be more advantageous. Reading between the lines within the article, they are still not being addressed!!

Football is losing the plot. This WAFL was like a good reliable car, then by adding components to pimp it up, it has created more things that can go wrong. Now nut & bolts are coming loose, and the new option is being traded in for a hybrid .

Never thought I'd see the day, what a bunch of morons.

If they want shorter quarters, keep the stopwatch running when the ball goes out of bounds. That's at least 5 minutes picked up to start with. Stop the clocks only after a goal , point or in case of a stretcher.

What an absolute joke. So the fact a quarter might last 33 minutes is a deterrent for people to attend! Does no-one in the WAFC have any idea of what is causing the problems re attendances at WAFL games? How about starting with what is unequivocally the cause of the greatest angst for WAFL supporters: the host club alignment. The reason for the poorest attended WAFL GF last year? The host club alignment.

How about instructing the umpires to bounces the ball sooner rather than take an eternity to bounce the ball. How much longer were the four quarters in yestreday's game at the Showgrounds?

This suggestion is a damning indictment of the likes of G Walton and the direction the WAFC is taking the WAFL.

Just leave us alone wafc
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Colts games for instance are 25 mins with no time on, but half the qtr is wasted with players having to fetch their own ball over the fence due to nobody being there to throw the ball back.

Whilst I obviously agree with you about the host club deal Swan, lets face it, attendances were shite house long before it came about and TV viewing audiences were tanking. Last years WAFL GF was just another kick in the guts in the long and slow death of a second tier comp that has been ignored fby the WA footy public now for about 2 decades, unlike SA were there seems to be a fair bit of community support.

Swan as much as we would like the host club to go away, fact is it wont , if anything it will probably become more entrenched.

The only way this staggering remnant of WAFL can survive and that includes financial viability of most clubs with the exception of Subi, is to explore change, simply staying the same is not an option.
