interesting news on ABC tonight... West 7 made a 1.9 billion LOSS in the last year. ... Viewers of AFL games down big time as are 7 normal program ratings.
Seems someone is running scared... Hope you have bit of money in the bank Mr Stokes as your day is coming along with the losers at the WAFC

What goes around comes around.

The AFL will pump millions into this womens league, and they will have to if they want it to get off the ground. Then once they find out down the track that it doesn't generate enough money, they will find themselves in the eternal position of funding it at the expense of the competitions that actually produce the AFL players. They will have too, because if they don't they will be labelled as neglecting it because it is a womens competition.

Currently they have 2 teams. Expanding to a dozen teams or possibly more will see the talent spread incredibly thin, the standard to be honest will be at times painful to watch. The crowds will not generate enough money once the novelty wares off and the reality of the product kicks in. The AFL will probably absorb that by playing them as curtain raisers to AFL games, which would be hypocritical because they have been so precious about the grounds for years. It even took a twist of the arm and a public backlash for the AFL to finally allow kids to have a kick on the grounds after games, which has happened recently.

So expect a big chunk of this $2.5 billion to continue to go into the Suns, the Giants, the Lions and now the Womens League. The WAFL wont get diddly squat. They don't care about the WAFL, no matter how many players it has produced.

And don't forget that Tasmania deserve their own AFL side - apparently -
