I thought Bluey was a bit unlucky, had them on track for finals this year before they were cruelled by injuries including Ablett for the last 8 weeks of the season. They are rumoured to be trying to get Bomber Thomson which will make for some interesting dynamics if the scuttlebutt is true that Bomber was not on the best of terms with Gaz in the last year that both were at the Cats. Interesting to see how that one plays out.

Also just breaking in Melbourne is that James Hird may be sacked by Essendon tomorrow. This could be related to the potential loss of Thompson or the fact that Hird has announced that he is appealing the Federal court decision and Essendon are not following that path.

With the Adelaide coaching position still up in the air, Mick getting stuck into Jarrad Waite and numerous players wanting to shift clubs this is probably the most interesting post grand final week ever, who was playing last Saturday again?

Big day in footy hey mikeh...Bluey didn't deserve it, no way. A disgraceful decision if like Brisbane with Voss the Gold Coast have jumped the gun on Bomber. As you point out it appears Hird, the EFC and the players are now completely at odds with each other in how to deal with ASADA. If Hird gets sacked tomorrow as is likely, bomber stays, who do Gold Coast go for then. Voss maybe!!!. Very interesting that Dank has chosen today to finally start talking some specifics with the media, especially the talk about Robinson and Geelong. Here comes the shitstorm....another bad summer coming up for cricket as AFL will be all over the papers for the most of it. Worst part about that is we wont ge a rest from dragon face Caro.

One of the most ridiculous parts about the whole investigation if you google Essendon and read any given days press releases you get a dozen conflicting stories about the same bloody item, sometimes in the same paper. Media in this country are a joke.

Hypothetically speaking, what happens if the EFC sack Hird tomorrow for appealing only for Hird to win the appeal. Either way Hird gets paid so from his point of view it really is a kind of no brainier to appeal if he feels his coaching days are over right now anyway as most are predicting. 2 million payout on his contract will pay his lawyers fees comfortably...tell all book sales will set him and his kids kids up for life. If i was writing the script from here Hird gets sacked, bomber says no to coaching, Dank comes forward with his evidence to clear the players during Hird's appeal and Ben Cousins is anointed as the new coach. A story like this deserves a ridiculous ending. I'd leave the afterword for Andrew Demetriou :P

Saw Jakovich on Ch10 saying players have too much power now when it comes to sacking coaches...

...and a good evening to Ken Judge!

Jarrad Brennan gave a nice parting shot to McKenna, saying McKennas sacking was a year too late and that he felt sorry for the players who lost a year of development due to Blueys selfish and stubborn attitude.

Nice

Hmmm... Hird safe for the moment. Wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement from the Essendon CEO and they will revisit it again early next week. I wonder if they have given Hird an ultimatum to withdraw his appeal or lose his job.
