I will preempt some responses: no-one can accuse me of pandering to Victorians.

It was a West Australian Liberal premier who signed up for the GST. What Andrews is doing is what one will expect from the WA Labor Government: build new rail infrastructure; recognise the importance of TAFE; health and education. And NOT indulge in base, racist politics.

Interesting the former national ALP President Warren Mundine is contemplating running for the Liberal Party. Apparently he joined the ALP during the Hawke Keating era. The ALP of today is right of Hawke-Keating's ALP.

PS Warren Mundine NUCLEAR POWER is not acceptable in Australia.

PPS If we had an Australian Government that believed in recyclables we would have a booming industry around recyclables.

Australia should have been on the leading edge of renewable research and development. Instead we have Abbott, Kelly and their acolytes who would have been better placed in the Dark Ages.

The Vics are most definitely Socialists with thier massive intervention in the economy; their policies would look even more obvious to us if the Tories had not accpeted some of the Socialist ethos after 1945 themselves -- the Tories did offer to spend on stuff too, just less money. Imagine if they were hardline 19 century liberals, then the true nature of Andrews' policies would be revealled.

As far as I know, the Victorians are the only state to have a section of the party call itself Socialist -- would not happen in this state in a fit for a number of complex reasons. QLD has nationalised industries so they can be regarded as a Socialist state.

We will have a lot more Socialism under Bill particulary in terms of the taxpayer monies he is planning to throw at wind farms and solar panels.

Ark Some of Andrews ideas are pretty good.The TAFE funding will train people properly for jobs.
The massive infrastructure spend will modernise there state and stimulate there economy.Post the property boom.He just got under my skin when he told Ben Wyatt to deal with the GST carvup.And sell Western Power and the TAB.

Gtr: I agree with his spending polices particularly in relation to TAFE, which as you know, Kennett absolutely destroyed.

Swan 42: As you know, depends a little bit on the era in relation to de-nationalisation -- Keating and Hawke did a lot of it and I still resent them for it; today, of course it would be the Tories.
