six to go
the Cardinals have probably made it a 9 win minimum entry to September
Mandurah and ` ` are probably the only ones outside of the top 5 capable of shivving West Perth or even Perth out
East Perth a slim possibility while East Fremantle & Swan Districts look too far away
The top 5 final placements are far from being settled apart from Subiaco
Leederville,Claremont,Fremantle,Lathlain and either Darwin or Albany
next couple of games large
and percentages

I think the top part of the league ladder is set. Just remains to see the order they fall into. I can see Subiaco, Claremont and Souths finishing in that order. Then not sure the order for West Perth and Perth. The Demons have lost 5 matches in the last 8 weeks by significant margins which must be of concern to the coaching staff. Whereas during the same time frame, West Perth have lost two matches.
Which all makes for an interesting fixture this week with Perth battling South Fremantle. Subiaco taking on Claremont will also be another match of great interst.

I think you can lock in WP for 4th. Sadly, I think P are going to fall short. Unless the Dockers or Eagles have a really bad run with injuries, they are both likely to finish ahead of Perth. I'd be intrigued to know if any team has ever won the first five games of a season and gone on to miss finals?

Correct Ruddiger. In fact Swans won 9 out of their first 10 games in 1997 but then only 2 of their last 10. The ultimate definition of "April Premiers". They got some horrible thumpings at the back end of that year. can't remember what happened for them to go downhill so quickly.

The President at the time demanded the coach play kids in the second half of 97 as we couldn’t afford to keep playing our best team or something similar.
Poor old Phil Cronan had us firing up until then and then at seasons end we saw a massive exodus of players move to other clubs and years in the wilderness followed.

On collapses in second half of a season you have to look at Souths here. They lost 1000+ games of experience this year, hams, cook, Saunders, Pickett, hockey. They have been fantastic so far this year but are those losses now catching up with them?

Ahh Ned Toothpaste. We will go close against SF this week, we have beaten Claremont and as they are massively overrated we can do it again. We beat EF and we have games against the teams you reckon we are in the race with. We beat them and do the deal. There is no way peel and wce will be finishing off year strong at wafl level, they will lose more than they win from now on.

Sounds like you are trying to deflect Perth's poor form for the last seven weeks on souths poor recent form.Perth won the first five games of the year and only 2 of the last 7.souths have won 4 of the last 7 but lost the last 3.Souths three losses have been against decent teams while perth have only beaten swans and east peth lately..Both are not in form but perth still make the five due to other teams poor form at the start of the year.No point in making the five really. If any team makes the five you would want to be in form in the back end of the seasons and not front runners at the start.
