One team in the WAFL has won 75% of its matches since 2000. Not content with this they have lifted it to 85% over last 5 years and over 90% over last 18 months. For mine this is totally and utterly abnormal in any serious comp and a grave problem for second tier footy in this State. Do people agree that treating this dominance as in any way normal or acceptable is no longer on? People may say what do we do, fine, but first we have to accept it’s no longer acceptable. People may say they are the benchmark and the rest have to lift their games. I say bs on that. Could cop it for a decade or so but they have gone from 75% to over 90%. It is now totally silly.

Do you people agree it has all now gone completely beyond a joke?

You make a fair point StT..take it to the WAFC and see what they have to say.

I guess you are talking about your trolling posts on this subject - so I completely agree.

The horse has already bolted. This issue was obvious in 2015. The WAFC did nothing. The competition is on life support and will probably not be around in its current form in a decade. Maybe thats what the WAFC have wanted to happen all along.

All you need to do is look beyond our comp into the EPL, La Liga and Serie A et al and you will find that there are always one or two possibly three who have periods of domination. It is often the richest clubs in the competition and it is simply a fact of sporting life.

Having said all of that there are periods with the newby who wins and then garners the rewards, Golden State as an example.

$ubi's dominance is no different to Melbourne's where both reaped the rewards of ground ownership.

Well put, been headed this way like you have said. And hey winners are grinners, be interesting to see in the next 5-10 years where and in which competition the traditional WAFL clubs end up. But it surely won't be this competition as it stands now.

the mid 1980s was pretty good for equality in the league, as BH always reminds me, but I would one caveat to that, and stress that by the mid 80s, the decline of the Perth teams had been going on for nearly a decade. The best way to get some equality, I think is to work withe zones and try to lift the draft age. Perhaps the Commission could swap a lift in the draft age for full support of the new mid year draft.

The league will survive because it is needed for the draft process

AR yes as I continually state from the introduction of zoning in 1969/70 up until the end of the Eagles first season (1987) every WAFL club had won at least 2 Premierships and played in at least another GF outside of the flags and on the other hand all bar EF (who did finish 7th a couple of times) claimed the wooden spoon in that same 18 year time period which to me showed it had the desired effect of finally evening up the WAFL.
And then the drongos at the WAFC made moronic decision after decision and we come to the WAFL we have today on life support along with most of the clubs in it!

Bease: your point about EF is a good one too; as you know when SD beat them by 111 points at the start of 1980 it set all kinds of records
