Last 5 games in a forgettable season for Swans starting with a match up with Souths this week, followed by West Coast, Subiaco, Peel and Claremont. To be honest the chances of a victory out of that lot is remote at best so what should the team be trying to achieve in these games? Sell some hope to their supporters for a start, just be competitive and convince us there is some thread of football ambition in the club for the future that we can hang on to. Forget about the game plan that only produced 3 gaoals in the last game on a sunny day. Let the players go out and enjoy their footy, put a few guys up forward who can take a mark and kick a goal as opposed to looking at the vast areas of space we now see in our forward 50. Lets have a look at our players in a different context and see who can take us forward in 2020.

Here is a unique idea..........lets actually play to win all 5 games by kicking a larger score than our opposition and in an entertaining face paced manner......i know its absurd by modern coaching standards that are just so highly successful!!!!

Been a long while since I tapped in BH. Do miracles still happen in July ? You reckon this one’s worth a visit or should I hold out for 2020?

Good to see you are still around on here DW.
Look mate you should be going into every game with a degree of confidence but in all honesty we will be up against it especially if we havent made any changes to our 'style of play' over the bye break.
Its about time we as a club stopped worrying about limiting the scoreboard damage against us and started to get the scoreboard attendant working his arse off updating our goal tally each game certainly more than 3 times like the last game!!

One of the many things the Football Department need to consider during the off season is recruiting or developing a quality ruckman. Obviously they don't consider Doc to be up to it ( I disagree), so we have Corey Gault up against the man mountain Higgins tomorrow. I think Gault is more value to us up forward.

Perhaps without Faulkner under Doc the symmetry has been lost in the middle mike? I do agree with your comment re Doc having said that.

Congrats to the club in appointing Rod Manton as the new club chaplain. One of the few decisions made in recent years I fully support.

Agree completely Mike. This season has been poor because for the first time in years we have not broken even in the ruck let alone get on top. People have a crack at our forwards for not being in position thus resulting in low score - folk's, they can't if their direct opponents have the confidence to run off them into the centre and forward lines at stoppages because they're fully aware that Swans will not win the ruck. Our forwards have to follow them and they do, resulting in our forwards having their roles reversed. They cannot stand on their own at HF or FF if their opponents are providing the overlap or lose man up forward. This has happened week after week but especially after the Claremont game. On the off chance we secure the football, our forwards are completely out of position and attacks stall, but it all stems from the lack of drive around the packs.

Gault and Blakely on paper provide SD with one of the best ruck combos in the WAFL....have both gone backwards this year?

It takes three to tango for a successful ruck battery. Blakely is a good footballer and a wholehearted trier, but our ruck rovers and rovers going missing this season has exacerbated some faults. But having said that, I thought the decision to drop him a few weeks ago poor. Gault is quality, but even his knocks are sharked, and as Mike has suggested, his potency is in the forward line where the opposition has to play their best defender on him. I feel sorry for Riggio. He has carried the small man component around the packs for a long time, but he is past his prime and few are giving him a hand. Hampson is too inconsistent and Turner carrying an injury. How important was Faulkner? Maybe now we're seeing his legacy.
