Finally got motivated enough to open a thread on this game. Last week was a bit of a downer because I thought we were a real chance of knocking over the Falcons. Instead we got turned over to the tune of 57 points on our home patch. Consequently I am finding it hard to develop any enthusiasm for this game. On paper we look pretty competitive even though there is a strong likelihood that Peel will be bolstered by a few extra Dockers emergencies. The main issue is that Swans are playing without spirit or confidence. At least up to a couple of weeks ago we were in games for long periods and mostly competitive. Last Saturday was just embarrassing and there is a real danger of an end of season decline similar to last years and a few others when Harding was coach.
Jackson Beck, a 19 year old from Bassendean has been rewarded for some good numbers in recent reserves games with a league debut and young Lachlan Riley has has a chance of playing his first game for Swans against his old team.Jordan Bill and Patrick Farrant have retained their spots and the rest of 2019 is now all about putting some games into these young guys who represent the future of the club.

Is a bit of a worry about Swans.
Up until the week 7 fixtures, although they'd only won 2 the team was chugging along. Swans had lost 6 matches or so but had been in there and the losing margins were not great. The teams efficiency level was quite good. Since week 7, something has happened. They've suffered 2 heavy losses recently. Another thing is Swans have played most of their matches at Home. Most of their remaining matches will be Away, plus another Bye in a few weeks. There is no reason they cannot win this week. Is hard to put ones finger on Swans because they are a good team on paper. The weather forecast for Saturday is for a few showers and a maximum temperature of 18º.

Not excusing our continual losses but if you take a look at the team we are putting out on the park compared to our opposition in games played we are vastly more inexperienced in virtually all cases.
Last week vs WP we had 11 players with 21 games or less (half our side) compared to WP 2, that is a fair difference.

Having witnessed the current Peel side in action last week it is a good one with lots of physicality and good skills. I still think old Swannies a chance and I'll be cheering for them.

That's a good point BH but it appears to me that Swans are in a constant state of rebuilding over the past 6 years with no realistic hope of challenging for flags in the future. Maybe its the financial situation but as TRSM has said our paid recruits have often been chosen off the reject lists of other clubs and haven't necessarily added the value that the club would have been looking for.

Yes true Mike and it is time for the club to go out and headhunt a mid 20s experienced, big bodied, gut running mid or 2 from outside like a Bolton, Hockey, Merrett, Manzone, Kitchin, Delahunty etc that other clubs have especially if our financial situation is stable like I am led to believe to help out our current crop of young developing players who are just not ready to dominate WAFL League football as yet and are still a summer or 2 of big pre season running and weights training needed to match the far more experienced WAFL teams who make up the Top 5/6 spots.
Take a look at our opposition from last week who have virtually kept the same side together (bar a couple of players) for the last 3 or 4 seasons something we havent been able to do from week to week of late.

The other thing that is quite galling has been the lack of support from the WAFC towards our current playing stock conditions with us having bottom 2 finishes in 3 of the last 4 seasons and we have only won 1 Pemiership (by 1 point in the last 29 seasons and only played in 1 other GF in that same time period).
They have bent over backwards for other clubs (WP- players, coaches, admin staff paid in full last year by WAFC not paid back as yet, EP- to help get their club back after they willingly went into a second term alignment with WCE, PH & EF- extra player points for both and extra salary cap $ for the former, SU- gave them a 7 figure compensation package whilst still allowing them to keep their seats deal and social club premises income at Subi Oval, Peelmantle & WCE- bend over backwards for both) but have not given one concession to help out SD on the field in fact it could be argued they have done the complete opposite with giving away half of our zone to other clubs and you have to ask the question as to why??? is there a hidden agenda there on the WAFC's behalf???

I can honestly say I have never been so bored at a game of football in my life than the current crap occurring at Royalties For Regions Park.
Swans have been amateurish level at best.
No enthusiasm no endeavor just a shell of a side I have to admit.

Disappointing result for this match.....I had Swan Districts pencilled in for a narrow win.
Apparently Swan only had three scoring shots in the first ½, which simply isn't good enough.
They picked up the tempo in the second half apparently but then it was far too late!
Simply cannot afford to nod off to sleep in the first 2 quarters.
Very disappointing indeed

Looks like where back to the 2016 level. The positive we won a home final in 2017.With the players in for a long second half of the season. All the best to the fans who made the long trip down south. And the longer trip home.
