Cartwright has seriously gone backwards since his test debut.....time to bring in some of the youngsters.....oh wait.... now it's the BBL....

A few positive signs coming out of the last day. Good double by Ashton Turner so he is back in form just in time for the BBL
Also Marcus Stonis with a good 83 although his inability to turn 50's into 100's is a concern. On the negative side Cartwright and Wells are really walking wickets and again I shake my head as to what Josh Phillppe has to do to get selected ahead of these guys.
Mitch Marsh also did himself no favours in this game in terms of getting back into the Australian team either.Despite all their issues they are only a couple of points behind the 2nd place team so if they can get the right team mix in february the Warriors still have a chance of making an impact on this season.

He was batting at 6 back then Freeze and after that Test call up Langer then & now Voges have tried to turn him into a no.3 and or opener which it would be fair to say has been an abject failure!

BH: it will be interesting to see whether they drop him or put him back to number six. In many ways, they have set him up to fail.

And if the recent Shield match is anything to go by then it couldn't hurt to move Ashton Turner up the order a couple of places from number 7.

With the Sheffield Shield returning at long last this weekend I was interested to see the WA squad to play NSW (#aka Aust 2nd XI) at Bankstown Oval and it would be one of the least experienced sides I can remember pulling on the Black & Gold cap including- Morris, Hope, O'Connor, Guthrie....with the likes of S.Marsh, M.Marsh, Turner, Stoinis, Short, Richardson, Agar, Behrendorff, Coulter-Nile etc all unavailable!
Surprised to see neither Jake Carder nor Clint Hinchcliffe were chosen must be on the outer down there at Hay St?
Will be interesting to see who is the incumbent Captain chosen as well??

The captain is Cartwright BH. Probably the most inexperienced side to represent WA in a long time as you said. Morris is an interesting one. Apparently called the "wild thing" he can bowl at 140 clicks and took 8 wickets in a recent 2nd XI match.

Cheers for that info Mike, probably makes sense to have Cartwright as the Skipper being fairly experienced and a former Test player hopefully it gives him some confidence to run into some badly needed form as his spot in the side would have been in jeopardy if those other boys were all available!
