This is the game of the round 1st v 3rd at Leederville. Hopefully the 8 or so Subi had in the state team wont have an impact on this game. most of the boys had reasonable games, Horse, Deluca and Dela all had a heap of the footy and Sok bagged 4 so all should be right for this game. I spoke to Clang at the Swans game and he said then he was right to come back then so and extra 2 weeks should see him cherry ripe. he said he had been put through a punishing training set and is fit as. Being experienced we should see him come straight in. Not sure on the status of the other injured but Marsh must be very close.
Hope mayo keeps his spot, he had his hands full with a very good Notte last game, the lad moves beautifully and has a real weapon with that racking left foot.
Souths are a very attacking team and score highly but can at times leak goals, so if our defence can get on top early I think we should win the game. Higgins should be raring to go after taking the week off so we cant expect to win the hitouts but Dela, Clang and Sutherland should be more than a match around the ground. We saw in the state game what sloppy kicking can do in the forward line, something that has plagued us in recent games. We will need to lift our scoring percentage if we are to put the doggies away. Forecast is for a fine cool day of 19 so we should see the best of both these highly skilled teams.
Subi by 19pts.

Should be a belter...Subi has only played one really good game so far and that was against FART so will need to lift if they want to get over the Bullies. Not sure about Clang coming straight back in as he's missed 6 weeks and might be a bit rusty. If they do play him I think Mayo's spot is on the line unfortunately as three talls plus Sokol in the front half is a bit of a risk....also Borchet should be good to go as well...so there's another tallish type player. Marsh I think will get the nod but Drew Rohde might come through the ressies. Mayo, McKenzie Lawrence and Fullgrabe in the firing line to go out for mine.

It will come down to how Wardman wants the matchups but a fine day with light winds will suit the talls. Just thought a 3 way rotation in the ruck and up forward will run Higgins into the ground, Clang and Dela are very mobile and Tim has the bulk to make life hard for Higgins.

Hasn't Mayo been one of those nominated to do a medical for the AFL mid season draft? If that's the case then interesting that he is borderline to keep his WAFL spot.
Also cunning thinking by Higgins and South giving him a weeks rest with a potential 3 way rotation from the Lions.

Yep...correct oollll. Deluca and Mayo from those who nominated at Subi will do medicals. I expect Deluca to get taken and Mayo is a chance as well.

From memory he got a medical as well S4TF...so you guys might lose him which will be good for him but not for Souths as he's a class act.

This match will be a real test for us given the fact we had 8 players play in the state game last week where it has been reported
that both teams pulled up sore from the hard surface there.
Souths also beat us in a preseason game albeit with different players in both sides. I was impressed by Kade Stewart and also Dion Munkarra in that match. Will be interesting to see how we line up given Clanger , Marsh and Rohde are probably going to be available for selection.

Dont like this mid season draft as it leaves the wafl side potentially weakened with no chance to find a replacement. I see that the wa sides are unlikely to have a pick but the other eastern state sides may do so. Not sure if any of them need midfielders as such but more ruckman , key position players or small/ medium forwards ? I was amazed to read that Richmond had interviewed a small forward from the VFL prior to the weekend when Nankervis went down, dont they have plenty of this type already??? I dont begrudge someone a chance to get an afl chance but dont they have enough players on their lists with rookies and overseas players already!

This will be an interesting game given we're not playing to the same level as last year and Souths seem to have reinvented themselves after a significant player turnover during the off-season. I'm hoping we just get over the line but certainly not confident.
