Thank God the Coalition got up in the election as Labor and the unions are at each others throats already. Imagine if Shifty Shorten was PM and the CFMMEU and others started flexing their muscles as they are at the moment with infighting and squabbling on a daily basis...we'd all be held to ransom and economic and industrial chaos the order of the day.

The slightly right of left must be rubbing their hands with glee but they still have a senate they can't really control
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Wasn't it Keating who called the senate "unrepresentative swill" back in the late 80's? I see nothing has changed with the likes of Bernardi, Lambie and co sitting on the cross benches. One saving grace is that the cross bench has come down to 6 from the last parliament's 11...so at least ScoMo should find it a bit easier as he only has to win over 4 of them to get legislation through.

The state Libs are a joke jack and I'm actually pretty happy with the way Sneakers and his cronies are going at the moment bearing in mind he was able to leverage off the work of Barnett did in building infrastructure and being at every subsequent opening and chest beating about paying down debt with an increased GST share and a big spike in iron ore royalties due to Vale going tits up....notwithstanding Labor's good fortune, they have shown a side of economic responsibility rarely seen in any Labor government both state and Federal.

BC I know you're a number cruncher. Tell me how the falling Australian dollar affects our iron ore price? Does the iron ore price per tonne fall with the A$? If so doesn't that mean less $$$ coming in for the government or is it the opposite? I know economists say a falling A$ is good for exporters because buyers will buy more of our product.
