He tends to run tangents instead of heading towards the ball carrier or into open space. This could be because the Freo guys ahead of him aren't working as a team. I'm not sure who the forward coach is but they need to work on structures, blocking their immediate opponents, taking defenders away from the ball and rotating through and away from the areas of opportunity when the ball comes in. The other thing I noticed was that Brisbane had a spare more often than not in their back half which Lyon didn't react to. I think it was number 27 or similar patrolled around unchallenged quite often and when he rolled onto a Freo player someone else took his place as a spare. Freo were either out-marked or the ball was fisted to defensive areas quite a lot as a result as the ball was bombed in by the mids and the forwards were outnumbered. Lyon would have seen that but chose to keep his extra behind the ball which was good for rebound entries back into the forward 50 but made life difficult for the likes of Hogan et al.

I thought I'd bring this back up as Lyon spoke about Hogan's leading patterns before the game and said virtually exactly what I wrote earlier in the week. Well hey Ross...nothing has changed sit was exactly the same today with bombing the ball in the preferred option. A good win by Freo but they need to be far more efficient bringing the ball inside 50.

I'll take that win any day BC regardless of any controversy. Lost Alex Pearce midway through the 3rd qtr and when I saw we were 9 points down in the closing stages I thought we were done and shut the phone down and was pleasantly surprised to hear from a Demon supporter at Lathlain that we won. You little beauty. Demons got a lot of work to do to win this one.

Certainly a win for Fremantle supporters to enjoy, although it will mean this thread is a little quieter and a little less chirpier for Spud and co. Then again they'll find away and be on the front foot, waiting for the inevitable Fremantle slip up, no doubt the Fremantle haters are back at the drawing boards giving this one a good thorough chin scratch. At some stage it may be Ross Lyon's fault for some cleverly defined reason, or perhaps Peter Bell is not immune.

Why so glum? This could possibly be the Dockers greatest win ever.

Wish anchorman was here to enjoy it.

Don't get me wrong DD...I thought it was a terrific win against quality opposition away from home but it just frustrates the hell out me that the forward structure isn't working particularly well when it could be.

The other positive is that the next 7 out of 10 games or similar are against sides below Freo which should set them up nicely for the back half of the season.
