Interesting people automatically associate achieving Sub's benchmark standards to finances....yep money helps....but Subi under Bunton then Germon, Webb and Schofield raised the expectations of the players standards training wise, character wise etc which have driven the clubs success just as much as their bank balance surely?.....Just because mum and dad are millionaires does that mean their kids are going to driven committed individuals?...or if ones parents are poor does that mean their kids are lazy shits?

Subi have been fortunate with their coaching selections that a winning culture has been able to be developed and maintained over a sustained period of time.....some thing Perth haven't done since 78.....Wiley, McMahon,Magro, Jarman et al have been shown to be shite coaching appts.....same as Dunbar, LesterSmith, Wiley et al for EF since 98.....Malaxos raised the bar during his coaching tenure at EF resulting in a GF, pre Lin and Foxtel GF appearances.....hopefully Monaghan can raise EF standards to Subi's benchmark....yep money helps but hey recruiting wise the likes of De la Hunty, Boland, Kitchen Phelan came with no AFL fanfare......Lockyer, Litherland and Menagola came to Subi with failed AFL careers.....not Subi's fault they landed on their feet.....Pretty sure the likes of Graham, Morton x 3, Davis etc came with better footy CVs than all those Subi recruits.....yet no interest in improving the club on and off the footy field.....once again not Subi's fault.....

Raising standards isn't all about money in my eyes, I only mentioned Perth needing to crack open the war chest because a lot of folk here thinks getting a far paycheck means you will get an individual of sound character?....perhaps of ability.....but ability can only take you so far....just ask Graham and the Morton boys.....Subi have recruited well, way better than the rest....but besides Clarke, Rix, Chick and Read who else has come to the club with high profile footy CVs?......to me the coaching appts since the early 80s have been Subi's greatest strength...anyway would the Perth boys be even chatting about unfair advantages or WAFL inequality if Perth were winning like Subi have done.....naagh don't think so.....as for the homeless comparison argument Ted.....you gotta be farking kidding me.....Pretty sure there has been a greater loss of life, higher incident of depression self harm, physical/mental abuse and drug abuse related to th he homeless argument then following the PFC.....but then again....LOL

DG we live in hope that the Subi players, coaching staff come to Lathlain tonight with same arrogant attitude.
The DEES will have their day with your lot.
Although I would prefer you to turn up to a GF with that arrogance.

SS PFC have never paid their players above salary cap.
PFC have never paid their players out of paper bags.
You cannot sustain Subi's level of player strength without paying them above what any other club can afford and do it within your salary cap.
You have cheated for so long you have forgotten the rules.
Please spare us the bullshit.

Ted don’t fall for BC mr reasonable routine. Let’s say you go with his big idea and clubs can only recruit from clubs above them on the ladder. This means that basically the team that finishes second, which can only recruit from subi, good luck, can never catch subi. It would suit them long run because there would very little player movement at all. Now if only premier can’t recruit then we are talking. But uncle BuCk won’t like it.

Freeze, you are obtuse as well as glib: the homeless analogy was designed to demonstrate how facile your "raise the standard" mantra is, not to compare WAFL inequality with homelessness. And Baseline, I think there is some merit in having a crack at Subi. Unless their administrators are living in a bubble, they must be aware of the growing discontent with their continued dominance. Unless they are utterly bloody-minded, they must have some regard to it. As I have said before, I disagree that the situation is completely out of Subi's hands. They have a choice whether to recruit or develop from within and maybe an awareness of the mood of WAFL fans might lead them to pursue the latter. It seems Townsend reads Oz Footy and he has reported a couple of times about the negative impact of Subi's dominance. The WAFC, as AFL focussed as they are, also cannot be completely immune from public opinion. It is an issue all WAFL fans should be concerned about and this type of forum gives us a chance to raise those concerns.

STT, I think the recruit from teams that finished above has some possible merit provided it is averaged out over a few years, not season by season. For example, let's say Perth finish 5th this yeas and WP 6th. We are in a position where this policy of using home grown talent has exhausted itself and we need to recruit to push us into a position where we can hope to be that team that gets flogged by Subi in the GF. It would be a pretty poor state of affairs if, on the strength of just one reasonable season, we were unable to recruit someone like, say Keitel. Plus I think a points loading would be better than a blanket ban. Let's say Subi want McInnes. Averaged over the last 5 years, Subi has been first and we have been 9th. So McInnes would come with a double transfer fee and 8 additional points. If SD wanted him, SD would be probably 7th over the last 5 years, so he would only cost them 20% extra transfer and 2 extra points.

TN...why would Subi as a club assume the role of the WAFC and deliberately lower their standards of performance to even out the competition? That's a bizarre notion....Subi has debuted 6 new players from last years reserves this year and is subject to the same points cap as everyone else with the exception of your club from memory which means they are forced to develop locals to stay within the 130 points...so not sure what you're talking about. Anyway, this is probably better in a dedicated thread somewhere else so back to the topic....good luck tonight...it should be a nice evening if not a little cool. Here's hoping for a good game. I'm not across your in's and out's and what they mean to the playing group but we're still missing a few and those who came up last week from our ressies did a pretty good job so think it will be very competitive.

Can't stop laughing at Ted's portrayal of PFC's aspirations being to "be the team that gets flogged by Subi in the GF."

Alright boys, we've got a great squad together here, let's work hard and have a big year and maybe just maybe you can be the team that gets flogged by Subi in the GF.

Gold.
