Robbie Hooker played for Perth around 1983 - 1985. He was a very good reserves player, didn't get many chances at league level. Handy player who was quite skilful.

And why wouldn't we? He turned up at arguably the lowest ebb in this club's history - 1981 - and I include the almost winless season under Gary Armstrong. 1981 was an incredibly bleak year for the Demons and Bryce got made to play CHF in a really weak team, an unenviable task for a young fella making his way in the WAFL.

He was part of the team that got monstered by Claremont in Round 17 in a 173-point thrashing I'll never forget.

He got turned into a defender at EF and began the journey so many other Demons would follow to EF over the next few years.

There's a poster of the 1981 squad outside the Past Players room at Lathlain. Everytime I walk past it and see those hapless faces it makes me sad. What those poor blokes went through that year.

Laurie Liddlelow and Norm Tower were 2 others from that year. I think there were quite a few who played that year and were never heard of again. Bryn Chute another.

Not sure he was a key position player.

CHB/FB for EF DF....good one at that.....underrated footballer went about his business in an ever so quiet fashion

Dazzler: good post, Laurie Liddlelow crossed over to Subi in 1983 and was in sides which got thrashed by the Demons. I had the Subi version of that poster, they were very good.

Perth played with honour in 1981 given its strong nature of the league , in the same season, as you know, WP treated us to some of the most diabolical results ever seen in the WAFL, particularly after round 14.

in fairness to Perth they in the two or three years prior had several long time premiership players retire in a short period of time
and some others were nearing the end of premiership careers
in 1981 they went up against extremely powerful sides - arguably the three most lethal footy sides ever seen in scoring capacity
Claremont , South Fremantle & Swan Districts
