So why have illegal border crossings surged under Trump to their highest level in a decade?

of course it cant be his fault if he used an election promise that he knew he couldn't guarantee to help him get elected.

Probably because they're trying to get through before Trump's wall is finished....plus you've got political and economic problems in several South American countries which is adding to the surge of illegals coming from places other than Mexico.

Correct BC that is precisely why Trump has threatened Mexico with tariffs and other trade sanctions if they don’t do more to stop the migration of people from other countries using Mexico as a gateway to the USA. Much the same as parts of Indonesia being a gateway for people smugglers here.

Yep...diplomacy is certainly not his strong point that's for sure when you consider in his first 3 years he's had punch ups with the Russians, the Chinese, Japan, Mexico, Iran, the Poms, North Korea and the list goes on.

They will get on famously.

DD I frankly don't give a rats proverbial if he is internationally favoured or anything else it iaa my country Australia that I care abt and how are we going to fix our problems with him and his numpty cohorts combined with the muppet opposition. Donald just plain harmful to a whole lot of countries sticking his bib in where he needs not and as for Boris he is straight out of the shallow end of the gene pool!

We need leadership within our country not a pastor feathering his own pulpit!

And what would have been your alternative? Don't tell me you voted for that grubby little weasel Bill Shorten? Lol

Before Trump's wall could be finished it would actually need to be started. So while Trump's wall does not exist a decade high number of illegal arrivals does. Border Patrol officials said they are coming primarily from Central America - not sure how the political and economic situation in South America fits in to all of this?

Spot on, Boris is the man and more than up for the challenge. The people of Britain have spoken and it's time for Boris (deal or no deal) to deliver on Brexit - Boris is the man for tough times and won't buckle when those Europeans start bleating.
