Gotta love listening and reading some of the sulking labour comments, they cant accept that the electorate have not voted them in in a landslide, they continue to disrespect the Australian voters. Even heard they are now claiming that voting box tampering has occurred and that why they lost, bloody unbelievable bunch of sooks, it's that or it was all Palmers fault, they cant come to terms with the fact that the elctorate did not trust Shorten, Plibasek, and the rest of the labour leadership group and their policies and returned the Libs with an increased number and absolute majority in the house of Reps and an improved situation in the Senate.

Labor should start there rebuild today and put last Saturday in the revision mirror. It's just pathetic how the Democrats still moan in America over Trump.Hope they don't do that....Senate they need five votes now not 6 like the last government. But have lost 3 right leading senators Hinch,Anning+looks like 1 of the 1 nation senators. Senate might still be tricky but think Scomo not a confrontation type bloke.

Why is everyone's thinking on this being driven entirely by a media which wouldn't know its A from its elbow. Who told us the ALP was going to win in a landslide - them. Who spent weeks not analysing why that might not happen - them. Did you guys, in talking to people around the place, think there would be an ALD landslide? I didn't, there is enough people over 65 ion my world to ensure I knew that the ALP faced a stiff test. People were obviously frightened and old people don't donkey vote!!
And now we are talking about miracles and ScoMo has full mandate etc - its only a miracle for the papers who failed to pick it.
I'm no commentator but where are the commentators saying that this was pretty much same as last time and its hardly surprising as not much has changed since 2016 except ScoMo more likeable than Turnbull, we didn't pick it when we should have and you may now stop listening to us rather than saying "Oh its a miracle because we didn't think it would happen..." And as for his mandate how come he gets one for winning a couple of more seats than Turnbull? Because its a miracle we didn't pick - not cos it's true.
Make up your own minds people.

And so true about Dems and liberal press in US gtr. They still don't get it - their disbelief that something like this could ever happen is exactly what got Trump elected in the first place, ie you are out of touch.
I come back to Barry Cassidy saying that Hawke and Keating and Howard would spend days and weeks sitting in their offices meeting with people from various constituencies and groups and representing various interests and agendas and actually get an idea about what people are thinking. You can't get this doing a series of stage managed photo opps for three years and then three years again.
Shorten got challenged once on the campaign and fluffed it - man of the people!!
ScoMo had slightly more convincing touch, but that's about it. He does not have a Hawke or Howard mandate for anything. He doesn't have the numbers and he doesn't know what people want or need.

STT I think there is one thing you are forgetting or not acknowledging. Scott Morrison had to pick up the pieces of a fractured Liberal party who dumped two elected Prime Ministers and add to that the Barnaby Joyce scandal surrounding his infidelity, it was a government on the nose and that is what was reflected in the polls which probably ultimately was Labors downfall. They became so cocky and arrogant they would win this election they thought they could introduce tax reforms and whatever climate change policies they wanted and they thought they would have a mandate to do it.

What sort of knob says we will get rid of all petrol and diesel cars by 20...? What a DICKHEAD threatening the lifestyle of every tradie, 4WD enthusiast, V8 rev head and caravan towing Grey Nomad in Australia. The bloke was that far out of touch it's not funny.

Scott Morrison was the only clean skin in the Liberal party without blood on his hands and while we are all talking rather evangelical, it is a blessing in disguise that Tony Abbott lost his seat. Scott Morrison should get a clear run to govern without looking over his shoulder and if Peter Dutton tries making a challenge I'll personally fly over to Canberra and kick him in the nuts myself.
Get on your bike.

Stt I'm 64 and the majority of people I spoke to and these are sensible hard working well educated types were convinced that Lab would get in with a comfortable majority of 8-10 seats.
Given the Libs were self destructing up until ScoMo took over just a few months ago, it was a reasonably informed view. In hindsight,it was the fact that Morrison clearly out campaigned and out worked a lame and toxic Shorton, that lead to this result and the master stroke of the pref deal with Palmer and ON which gave them a big lift without the consequences of Palmer winning a seat. If you think Shorten and his droogies are big losers spare thought for palmer, he paid something like $2500 per gained vote, hopefully this will discourage him from ever running again and end the yellow wave of visual pollution d

Well done Ark. So if Turnbull was living next door to me he would throw rocks at me. Iif shorten was living next door I’d throw rocks at him. With scomo I’d say you seem like an ok guy, come round for a beer as long as you don’t preach at me. That good enough to be pm? Apparently.

I said that the ALP would not win on that primary vote a week before the election; the real mugs in the election were the pollsters whom made faulty assumptions about vote preferences because they were pro-Labour. In essence, they gave 100 per cent of green preferences to Labour, but only 50 per cent of One nation and UAP preferences to the Tories -- a completely irrational analysis of the politics of Australia

STT: thank you mate, Bill should have been able to read the same figures and warn people that it would be closer then the polls suggested.

On Morrison people prefer him, I think, because he does not moralise all the time. If the Labour party abandons extreme Green policies -- I would copy the morrisson government on green matters -- the ALP can win the next election.

I agree. Morrison also comes across as a guy who genuinely likes it all. The talking, the questions, the pressers, wandering around. Hard to knock that. I mean he is a policy deadbeat as someone said but hard not to like.
