Sad news to hear that former WA & Australian cricket star Bruce Yardley has passed away at age 71 in Kununurra.

He was a fantastic off spin bowler, brilliant gully fieldsman and a very handy lower bat (usually at no.8 ) for WA, Australia & Midland/Guildford mate.
And after his playing career finished (he did make a comeback around 1989/90) he was a great commentator on Ch9 for WA Shield & Interstate games and occasionally joined up with Richie & the boys when the Aussies played in Perth.

Great memories of Bruce Yardley, a very courageous cricketer. He could do it all and enjoyed his commentary after he retired. R.I.P Roo

RIP mate -- don't forget lads, I think he also had bad eye-sight in one peeper so everything he achieved on the cricket field should be seen as all the greater. i will always remember his infections personality.

Totally agree Ark....definitely loved the square cut from memory and more often than not snaffled a few scorching square cuts fielding in the gulley or a point in his prime....class act on and off the cricket pitch....
