Doubt she will be back, maybe as a single gold digger.

Little bastards pissed off to pursue successful job and career opportunities all over the state without a single by your leave from me.

In the meantime, I managed to escape from the parochial, small town, small minded environment of Perth, and establish my fortune so the ungrateful pricks could clean up big time in their future inheritances.

Not sure I am at Lizzie's level of disappointment, but on reflection it does seem like a win/win situation all round.

Lol.

You went from a "small town" to a el cheapo dancing girl third world village.

If you were really about big towns you'd be in NY Paris or pretty much anywhere else really.

BC wrote: Jack...I take exception to your labelling Perth as parochial...hello!!!! you're one of the biggest one eyed WCE fans on here and if we're loyal Western Australians then surely that's a good thing given we're generally treated as second class citizens in comparison to our eastern states bretheren. Small town???...there's only 4 cities bigger than Perth in the US being NY, LA, Chicago, Houston and the US has 10 times the population, and calling the good burghers of Perth "small minded" is misguided as some of the most successful visionaries, entrepreneurs, academics and businesses in Australia started up in Perth. So I think you're views of Perth are probably out of date.

Yep, more Millionaires here than most places. Nobel Prize winners, engine driver of the countries economy, world class hospitals all free as well, and 5 hours from Singapore and direct flights to UK.

I've lived in Perth for over 50 years and absolutely love the place. It has always amazed me though how when anyone dares to criticise Perth for any reason, there is generally an outraged response from the general public and the media, generally along the lines of "how dare you have a go at gods own earth, have a look at your own patch first". This parochialism if you want to call it that, rears its head particularly whenever someone famous makes a disparaging comment about Perth. There seems to be a defensiveness which many people have which I haven't noticed to the same extent in other places particularly in democratic countries. Maybe its our geographical isolation which causes this I don't know?

Getting back to the topic I think that the monarchy will change dramatically when Queen Elizabeth passes away. She has been the glue that has held together a pretty much outdated institution and Harry is preempting this by making a life for himself away from family. He only has to look at his Uncle Andrew to see the consequences of living off the public purse with nothing much to do.

I think Melbourne people are even more parochial to criticism of their beloved city than Perthite's Mike.

Maybe BH, but really if you are confident about your city you would just ignore or laugh off any criticism surely? No place in the world is perfect.

For what it's worth I think the royals ...probably with the exception of the Queen and maybe William in recent times...are a bunch of inbred parasites. The last 20 years or so has delivered scandal after scandal when we consider the Charles, Diana, Camilla fiasco, Andrew, Fergie and so on. If I was a pom I'd be getting pretty well fed up with the narcissistic and self centred attitudes of the royals whilst living off the public purse.

So true, Mike.

Sometimes when you look from the outside in, you get a different perspective from those looking from the inside in.

Great post BC, I for one have never really got the "general interest" in this pommy mob!
That may be a carryover from times past but I wonder when QE moves on whether this mob will lose all relevance to the future generations especially here in Australia?

Yep...spot on BH. I think a lot here in Australia are very loyal to the Queen and agree that when she either passes away or hands over to Charles which she has stated is her intention, the Republic debate will gather momentum as I don't think Chilla will ever command the same respect or loyalty as his mother currently enjoys. A lot of people both here and in the UK, are still dirty on Charles for the way he treated Diana.
