I would erect that giant statue of Colin Barnett at Faulkner Park in the City of Belmont BC!

With the greatest respect I suggest you wait 10-15 years to see whether Barnett's refusal to add an extra floor to the PCH was a correct decision. My opinion it won't be seen to be a good decision.

Also,it is an absolute disgrace to mention Emperor Barnett's name in the same breath as Ruth Faulkner.

Did she build a world class Perth Stadium, Elizabeth Quay, Yagan Square, Childrens Hospital etc?

I know people are interested in what was happening on Sky News tonight. Paul Murray has had an absolute meltdown tonight. I won't mention what he called Julia Banks but in my opinion it is totally unacceptable. And you can google what he said if you are interested but I won't quote what he said and put the owner of this site at risk.

He also chose to refer to Fairfax papers as the Channel 9 papers without referring to Sky News as the Murdoch channel.

Edited for accuracy. Swan you are delusional if you think Ozfooty members find your running commentary on Sky News even mildly interesting.

Can we go a bit further up the road and erect a brass monument of the great Emporer at Tomato Lake? First I'll take a box of rotten tomatoes and pay my respects before I come back later with a cordless Ozito angle grinder and cash him in at the scrap metal yard.

Elizabeth Quay is a big black hole, totally fucked up a previously brilliant drive from east to west through the city. Absolute nightmare getting around there these days. Those cobble stones are a disgrace and the peanut who signed off on that ridiculous car park deal at the Perth Children's Hospital should be flogged in the middle of Elizabeth Quay.

It's pre season Swannie if you want to brag about being April premiers you go girl. Why should the Prime Minister call an early election? What are you worried about? You are not worried about the next budget and numbers that come in before the next election are you?

Would you be worried Australians might ask themselves if things are ticking over nicely and Scott Morrison seems like a decent bloke without any blood on his hands like so many others including the leader of the opposition, then why change government?

DD , mate you need to get out more, the electorate is waiting with cricket bats to belt the libs...

Btw Newspoll is one of the most accurate polls in the world..no real comparison to US and non compulsory voting.

Bazza can I suggest those lining up with cricket bats as you put it cast their eyes across the other side of Parliament house and look at the uninspiring lot as the alternative. They might put the bats down and have a rethink. Let's just think this through shall we before we make a big mistake, would be a wise thought.

BC he certainly did: he lost our triple A credit rating during a mining boom. There was going to be a new stadium: Barnett chose to ignore the report as to the best location for the new stadium. And to preempt your and/or BH's comment the person who produced the report was a former Under-Treasurer and by no means a Labor stooge and to paraphrase Wally Foreman the cost at the time of the production of the report was going to cost an additional $200 million dollars for the footings if the stadium was to be built at its current location.

How anachronistic is the naming of Elizabeth Quay? During Barnett's government's commitment to developing Perth's rail network?

And without be unduly pedantic there has not been a change to the GST distribution. Was Barnett part of the government of the day that signed on for the GST?

The new Children's hospital: maybe wait 10-15 years to see if his decision to not put in an additional floor was typical of his lac of vision.

Yes Sean and might I say Barnett was absolutely on the money in choosing to ignore Langoulant's recommendation don't you think? As for the GST distribution, I could have sworn there was no floor in the amount per dollar states would receive...maybe I was wrong and it's been 75 cents in the dollar all along.

Excellent idea BH....I think those accomplishments should be celebrated and just to be apolitical and even handed they should be mentioned in dispatches along with Labor's north and south rail extensions from a few years back and Perth Arena just to name a few. At long last, Perth is getting world class facilities and the responsible parties should be congratulated and not pilloried just because one doesn't agree with their political position.

42 are you suggesting the new 60+k seated Perth Stadium should NOT have been built in its now iconic Burswood location on the beautiful Swan River banks with the parklands and lakes surround???

Not to mention the Airport Train Link.
