We are one of the few places in the world that has strict Quarantine Laws I guess hence the delay.

No mate, the Marshall is the person who directs whether you go to a search table or straight out the exit. Back in the old days you'd go though the Immigration line and the primary officer would mark your declaration with a code which was the determinant on whether you got tipped out or not. These days it's just a subjective decision by the Marshall and whether you've declared anything. Most airports I've been to have a red and green channel which is what should happen in Perth with ABF officers retaining the right to search someone and their luggage if they choose to.

Ah yes , I've never been tipped once in many many trips, went through in April and think you are right the coded pass was gone, BTW BC will be there again next Friday , away for 2 months this time.

BH there was two Wa Premiers in the 1950's.They both done about 5 years each.
Sir Ross Mclarity LNP 1950-55..,,,,,Albert Hawke ALP 1955-59.
They probably both contributed to the building of the Narrows.

Speaking of bridges GTR how magnificent is the Matagarup Bridge especially at night when all lit up...another WA icon from the Barnett era!

Not bad apart from the fact its in SDFC colours...lol

gtr fundamentally Labor is interested in assisting those who need help. For example, most if not all major social programmes are Labor initiatives. Bringing the Freo railway line was a very important policy decision and the building of the northern and southern railway lines, in the context of Perth's development in concert with the current Labor government will stand us in good stead.

My father told me John Tonkin was a good premier.Did he build the Narrows Bridge. And some big infrastructure projects in his 4 years.

The TONK , did 3 short years, a one term wonder who's greatest claim to fame was spending a fortune on a Hoocus Poocus Cancer Machine that turned out to be a scam and the other was his rose garden at his house on preston point rd east freo , which I often drove past and would see the TONK shovelling manure on them, of course the other downer about the TONK was that he was a EFFC supporter.

The Narrows , Kwinana and Mitchell Freeway were all Coalition Projects, planning for the Narrows begung under the great Sir Ross McLarty KBE MM ( World War I Lt on Western Front ) in 1947, it was appropraly opened by highly popular Sir Charles Gardiner GBE KCMG KCVO GB in the presence of the great Sir David Brand KCMG.

Also note worthy in Sir Ross Mclarty's time in office, was the establishment of the Kwinana Industrial Site, plus the negotiations and establishment of the BP Oil Refinery , and the establishment of the State Housing Commission

BC wrote: As far as I'm concerned, when the new GST distribution model kicks in and state debt starts to get paid down and becomes a distant memory, I think a statue to Colin Barnett should be erected at the new stadium. After all, it was his government that built the thing plus Yagan Square, Perth Gateway, City Link, the kids hospital, Elizabeth Quay and so on. Love him or hate him, he actually got stuff done.

BC he certainly did: he lost our triple A credit rating during a mining boom. There was going to be a new stadium: Barnett chose to ignore the report as to the best location for the new stadium. And to preempt your and/or BH's comment the person who produced the report was a former Under-Treasurer and by no means a Labor stooge and to paraphrase Wally Foreman the cost at the time of the production of the report was going to cost an additional $200 million dollars for the footings if the stadium was to be built at its current location.

How anachronistic is the naming of Elizabeth Quay? During Barnett's government's commitment to developing Perth's rail network?

And without be unduly pedantic there has not been a change to the GST distribution. Was Barnett part of the government of the day that signed on for the GST?

The new Children's hospital: maybe wait 10-15 years to see if his decision to not put in an additional floor was typical of his lac of vision.

42 are you suggesting the new 60+k seated Perth Stadium should NOT have been built in its now iconic Burswood location on the beautiful Swan River banks with the parklands and lakes surround???

Yeah, as you know Sean has been pushing that BS ever since Colin did it, its only because its a Liberal and Not Labor plan he hates it, remember Labor basically lost the election when they came and out late just before the election and said he would cancel Burswood and move it back to Subi,,,ffs what a goose.

Bazza LANGOULANT was commissioned to determine the best location. He did NOT CHOOSE where the new stadium is currently located. Now if you wish to try to suggest that he is on the Labor side of politics; you are deluding yourself.

Gee , Swan you really are left behind aren't you, yesterdays man fighting yesterdays lost wars.

hahaha...on the money there Baz. Poor old Sean had a crack at BH yesterday for commenting that he would support a political party that put SDFC back on top. I read it as a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour from BH but our mate seemed to take exception to it...silly old bugger is losing it I reckon.

I trust you will be as supportive of BH's posts when he again is critical of Subiaco's dealings in the WAFL.

I had a crack at BH for seemingly placing as the highest priority when determining which party to support based on what is best for Swans.
