What is wrong?

The weather here was absolute crap...forget WAFL attendances on bad days.

same goes for North v Fremantle ,,,dockers wont pull many from now on, another loss this weekend, and then Adelaide will be probably another one...and they will fall away.

SD did a good job to turn that game around Bease, especially as the side was not overly fond of wet weather, and, in circumstances where, I think to this day, the pressure of the winning sequence was wearring them down,

Not really 6K would of been considered a smallish crowd in 1980 WAFL days, if you got around 5k it was a small/poor, which tended to always involve either bad weather or Subiaco or Perth.

I remember 5k crowds at Freo and the ground looked empty compared to the normal 10k or so,

now 5k would be ground to chuck a farking party.

Yep people are fickle, they just like winning all the time and won't go if you start losing week in week out like Freo, are doing now and are about to be out of finals contention. Their home game attendances will fall below 30K in coming weeks and tickets will be discounted.

I remember huge scores back in that 80/81 era AR despite a couple of wet seasons then....especially compared to the soccer type scores of the last few years!

70s and 80s winters were a heap wetter and colder than they are now, at least double the rain, squals and storms on a regular basis, i think there might of been one year in the 70s we had water restrictions in summer and that was weird. Now we have them every year.

Indeed, BH. Scores of 30+ goals used to be commonplace, but now a 20+ goal score is celebrated like the arrival of Halley's (not Len Halley) Comet.

BH: true mate, in regards how the game is played today. With reference to 1981, even Subi got the high scorring bug kicking 160 points three time throughout the season; such scores were unheard of for the club between 1975 and 1983, kicking twenty goals was rare

Did Claremont kick thirty goals against five of the sides in the competition?
