I await with interest to hear that T Abbott has called a Royal Commission into the wages scandal which featured in the ABC Four Corners programme yesterday?

Will he? No of course not because it has no political benefit to him. The same reason why he didn't have a Royal Commission into all workplace deaths rather than just a select 4.

I don't think so s42. Would be no political mileage in it. After all, it was only a few workers got ripped off!! The government doesn't worry about such things!
But wondering if one of the politicians had a family member whom got ripped off by 7/11? Would some kind of government intervention be on the cards then?

you're being silly now 42....having all this time on your hands with the bogans out of the finals is clearly starting to tell. why would he have a royal commission on something that is enshrined in law and covered by the Fair Work Act?

QED BC. We have the appropriate laws and investigative bodies with respect to any alleged illegal activities by any union officials. There was no need to have a Royal Commission. Similarly with respect to the tragic deaths subject to the Royal Commission. What exactly was the result of that Royal Commission.

Finally BC Swan Districts have two teams left to play in the finals. We have at least two matches to be played for each team.

I guess the proof is in the pudding 42. so far there have been some startling revelations concerning unions taking cash in return for industrial calm...Shorten being smeared for his dealings with Leightons and being provided with paid staff from a contractor during the election, unions trying very hard to close the thing down for obvious reasons...even Labor's own saying its a good thing... so why the complaining?

Because it is nothing but a $60 million dollar political Royal Commission as was the previous RC at our expense. If one was dinkum about improve workplace safety would have encompassed an investigation of ALL workplace fatalities.

Also, it is appropriate to note that your 'startling revelations' are allegations only; there was no testing of those allegations.

Finally I don't think it is judicious when there is a change of government that the incoming government calls political RCs to score political points over the previous government.

Its only cost $17 Million to date which is actually under budget by a considerable sum.

There should be a Royal Commission into Umpiring at SDFC games, what do you think Swan42?

Wouldn't need the expense we all know what the findings would be Bazza or are you suggesting that perhaps D Sinclair is the Royal Commissioner?

I say it's needed least of all for all the Swans folk howling for the injustice, they are voices that desrerve to be heard, they are the victims in all this.

Malcolm McKuscer AC CVO QC to preside.
