Brace yourselves boys as that's all about to change. You blokes want to delay the inevitable and the real risk is that if we wait too long, the rest of Australia which is currently shut out of WA will get through to the other side and they'll shut us out when we open up as infections will be rampant here and controlled in the east. Open up and get on with it I say.

I have a son in the UK and making a comment like this is based on what he tells me and my own investigation of what is happening here, so as much as you may think I do not know how lucky I am you have no understanding of the current political ineptitude being displayed around you especially by your poster boy Morison and his parrot!

I would add that the fish and chip shop owner would not have done much better.

It really does show that our political government has no idea abt planning for disasters and thinks that policy on the run will be ok if they self praice enough!
Over 14 Million infections, `150,000 plus dead, 3 national lockdowns - one went for over 6 months, a national economy in tatters, yeah sure they did it great.

Talking about inept leadership fish and chips and the UK, how is Bojo travelling?

Give me a break we are way better off than them.

I,m afraid it has to happen sometime, how long we can hang on for is really a question of semantics, some talk about us delaying then being a upsurge of infections while the east comes off its peak, not entirely sure if I buy that but I guess its possible.

we have had plenty of time to get ready, I'm told the hospitals are in better prep than expected also just been told the WA Police Academy will be shut down and all staff redeployed to Covid duties following the opening, this indicates to me that the date is happening BC whether people like it or not. But with Sneakers who knows, there is growing pressure to delay the date.

NSW and Victoria are an utter shambles, our supply lines are much longer, goods may well run down here quick, then theres the threat of mines and gas rigs closing due to a shortage of workers, that's going to smash the entire national economy.

Has it struck anyone on here that even with this wildly infectious Omicron strain getting out in our community it hasn't taken off and spread?

This is following the same pattern as previous Delta cases where the government hit the panic button and locked us down when in fact there was little or no spread.

I refer back to a previous post I don't care to search for where a panel of experts theorised that our weather and population might have something to do with it.

WE have a hot and dry climate which viruses don't like and we are a relatively small population far more spread out. I don't think we will see the sort numbers we see in the eastern states although SA is a smaller population than ours so it's best we compare with those numbers.

Also I haven't kept tabs on it but a few days ago SA health officials believe that positive cases had peaked and they had successive days of a significant drop in cases. The sooner we open the sooner we will get over it. The longer we delay it could backfire on the government if the virus is running rampant in more cooler and wet climate.
Get on your bike.

oops Baz, Albo is the fish and chippie and I acknowledge we are better off than probably the rest of the world.

My point is that neither Morrison nor Albanese have done their collective jobs in being ahead of what is required, we have been playing catch up since day dot! They wait and then go oops we better do this or that but late again, the RATS are a prime example.

The son did say at one stage WA was a bit of a laughing stock but it seems the consensus is that WA has probably done better than most!

Surprisingly we do actually agree abt somethings, just my bad explanations.

I spoke with my nephew the other day who is a journo in Melbourne, he says that a vast majority of viccos he comes into contact with view WA with envious eyes and think our government has for the most part nailed it.

I think McGoo will stick to Feb 5th but will not make the mistake that New South covid and CoVic made by opening up just about everything all at once and did not mandate masks or Vax passports. All of these things will be done in WA, i think we will be eased back into a graduated opening but with strict entry and testing requirements, which I'm ok with. Vax passports reward those who do the right thing and leave the anti-vaxers to deal with the choices they make.
