There seems to be a big push by some in the media to either be pushing Justin Longmuir or Peter Sumich as the next Fremantle coach. Others in the mix include Brad Scott, Michael Voss, Blake Caracella, Woosha. Ratten if St Kilda don't appoint him and take Ross back. Lol

But I'm all in favour of a Fremantle boy who I know would love to have the job and I've got no doubt is just what we need. It's Sumich for me over Longmuir who sounds like a future senior coach but I like someone with a bit more seniority and experience. Brad Johnson, who worked with Sumcih at the Australian Institute of Sport has big wraps on Suma. There are big wraps on Justin Longmuir too but for me Sumich is a winner and this job is tailor made for him.

I like your thinking DD,
Sumich has an awesome body of work behind him at various levels of footy.
He is good with the youth also and bringing them through.
Id see if they could lock him in with JL as his assistant.
Knight Footy is the winner!

Yep too often we don’t realise the talent that’s already there in our own backyard Disco, ala Tim Kelly.

Freo have a history of taking a very good player and turning him into an average one and also of destroying coaches. If they grab Suma and don’t try to micro manage him, he’ll put a stop to all that. Personal opinion - he will make a good senior’s coach.

Well, as much as I dislike the dockers, I really hope Suma gets this gig, its well over due that the dockers actually had some real Fremantle in the biggest leadership role.

Welcome back Baz. Like you, I don’t like the Dorks, but have the greatest respect for Suma.

Noting there is a level of support for Sumich which has put forward on various posts and threads.

I find it interesting that it is Fremantle credentials or links too that make him a great candidate.

Also interested that no other AFL club has him in any current role (perhaps that is his choice) and if the Fremantle job wasn't vacant then his name barely rates a mention for other AFL clubs want.

If your hungry you are out there and into any potential position - this doesn't appear to have been the case for Sumich. His name never comes up for any other club these days, but apparently he is a 'Freo boy'.

Now I'm not what you would consider a weagles lover - however if there was a Fremantle boy (who has a track record as a coach) and was a weagle it would be Worsfold for mine a Fremantle. If some are giggling at delight at getting a true Fremantle person there then 'Whoosh' fits the bill for mine.

Make him an offer he can't refuse, rather than Sumich who it appears no other AFL wants.

Surely there is more "Fremantle" in Longmuir than Sumich? This is the afl fellas not the Wafl!

Well said. Worsfold has a ONE year tenure to gets the Dons into the top four.. That wont happen & suddenly he is out of a job.. He should bite the bullet & think about going home to his family & securing a four year deal.. By the end of 2020 the only vacant coach positions could be Port, Melb & Ade.. All need a total rebuild.

I think it is more where they grew up than who they played for TOO.
Worsfold grew up around Freo (went to South Fremantle SHS) and Sumich in Spearwood whilst Longmuir came from Koorda in the wheatbelt country.
