After watching the standing ovation Freo fans gave Pav I might just have to reconsider my earlier post here. Any bloke that can play 300games let alone at one club will now qualify automatically as a legend in my books. Apologies Anchor, happy to correct myself here ;) . Raised a hypothetical during the SD v C game with the boys yesterday. Topic, if you had to choose Carey or Pavlich who would take. Pav 7 - Carey 2. If the blokes at the can bar rate him that highly that's enough for me

Agree, Pav is very, very good. Carey was very, very, very, very good. Pity he didn't have the off field morals and ethics that Pav has.

In pure on field football terms, Carey by a mile, no comparison.

In pure off field terms, Pavlich by a mile, no comparison.

Carey was a monumental failure outside the white line. But his football feats only a few can compare too. Pavlich was no Carey on the field , but I would imagine Pavlich would not like being compared to him on any level based on what he has achieved, and achieved his way. He will leave football with his head held high. Something Wayne never did. I think based on that , Carey wished he could be compared to Pavlich.

Good call Jardine, the other factors are that Carey played in a very good side and didn't have to play full back, centre half back, full forward, centre half forward and midfield in a team that for most parts was poor. Don't really think you can compare them because they are quite different. Wouldn't mind a team full of either.

Carey then daylight

Pavlich seems like a much nice bloke though off the field, as jardine says.

I reckon TI would have jumped on Stynes's head, often.

Jim may have got him around the ground later on with his fitness thou.

Pav a champion of the game. Clearly a legend at Freo.

Legend of the game goes a bit far for me we throw that around a little to easy I reckon.
