The Reserves let themselves down when could of been close to the 4. Now it will be a bit of catchup but after hearing Peel only got 2 points and EP got 23 goals today they should atone next week v Peel :)

League game was brilliant.. Our second qtr won us the game.
No Hutchy, Razor or Sala and this put the club in a good position as all three are key players and it shows we have some depth.

Usual guys showed up including Striker, Gaudy (he is a legend), Crispy is really in top form, Nice to see Slick back and firing, Pettigrew has found a position that suits him really contributed, Great to see Garlett put out of the game by RASSA

Well done guys

Heres the Stats

West Perth Best Players and Goals Kickers
GOALS: 3 M.Pettigrew, 2 R.Kerr, B.Antonio, 1 A.Tsalikis, M.Crisp, S.Nelson, J.Mellington
BEST: L.Rasmussen, M.Pettigrew, J.Jones, A.Strijk, M.Guadagnin

It was a good competitive game of footy Cardy. Your boys played with a lot of grit and deserved the 4 points although when Newman kicked that goal I thought we just might snatch it. I thought the ability of West Perths mids (e.g Strijk and Black) to get back and assist the defence was crucial.

Yes your 2nd quarter made the difference in the end and in general West Perth hit their targets a little bit better than we did. Swans tend to overuse the handball which can run them into trouble sometimes, especially against a team like the Falcons who can really pressure the ball carrier. But hey it was only 3 points, so a pretty even contest overall. Hopefully Swans can win enough games to make the finals because a Swans V West Perth match up in September would be worth watching for sure

Hey MikeH at least you didnt blame the female boundry umpire for losing the game.. Same girl that did the job on Malaxos :) last week was doing the boundry today.. Christ what are we comming to?
She did ok today... Had an incident on the boundry where there was a discussion between Parry and the boundry ump but that was with a guy who had a bit of trouble keeping up..

I saw an incident, think it was in the first quarter on the members wing, where a West Perth player dived for a mark near the boundary line. I thought he had grabbed it inside the line and then slid over. However the boundary umpire called for a throw in! Given that the player didn't fumble the ball, it could only have been a mark or out on the full unless I've missed something?

Yep that was the one.. My thoughts exactly it was either a Mark or out on the full. I dont think the young boundry ump actually knew as he was to far away to make a decision. And Parry didnt know either so I suppose a throw in was the best result. Nothing really lost there. What I hate is when a field umpire reverses a Goal umpires decision after a lengthy conversation with all the officials at the scene.. We have had a couple lately and it pisses you off when the guy indicates a goal in a close one and it is reversed. But thats footy I suppose and have seen it happen at AFL level ass well and they were even talking about another umpire I think and they also have the review now... All getting to much.

Cardy, I thought Andrew Strijk was outstanding yesterday. He provided a lot of rebound out of defence. Has he been playing this well all season? At one stage I saw him outmarking Lobb the Swans ruckman even though he was giving away a few centimetres there!

Yep I remember that mark it was incredible. Can still picture it as I was surprised when he bought it down.. Its the things like that you do remember. Swans were making a move as well at the time.
Striker is a brilliant player. He has moved to defence this year and thank god for that as he has certainly taken off from where Fleay left off.
Very good kick and his disposal is excellant usually hitting the mark though he did do a turnover at one stage but the WP guy he kicked to I think misjudged and the Swannie guy took it on the chest.. Shit happens

Our backline this year is pretty solid.. I think Hunty had a few problems on Geappen but who wouldnt. Another back who is performing well is Brown who has taken the mantle of Dusty Burns.. Has worked out pretty good and something I didnt expect after losing 2 key defenders this year.

Thanks for your input it is nice to get a comment and feedback occasionally.

That will be handy. Shame someone has to be dropped though. Team working well.
Sala didnt look ready in the Ressies. Maybe another week there v Peel would be the go.
