Have the League started 2 wins and 0 losses in recent years?

Got off to terrible start today 25 points down in the first quarter the win was a great result. Yes a bit of luck but we will take it.

Listened to the broadcast in the latter last qtr and sounded like heart stopping stuff for Dees supporters down there. Looks like we broke the game open in the 3rd qtr and did enough to hang on. Would love to be 4 nil going into round 5 against the Tigers.

SD and EP are really important.
IMHO they are games that should be pencilled in if we are the real deal in terms of finals.
4 nil would be a great start to the season.
Then a red hot go against Claremont.
It is time for us to have a win against teams like Cl & Subi.
And WP.

Were you there? That umpiring performance needed to be seen to be believed. One of them didn't understand the sliding rule and another kept pinging Ninja, the smallest guy on the field, for around the neck. I was half expecting Andrew Panetta to march out Mal Brown style and order the team off the field. The players were laughing about it throughout the last quarter it was that embarrassing. 34-10 in the end and we got the last three of the game so that tells you something.

They looked really rusty in the twos although I really liked the look of Jack Steel up forward, he flew for plenty and clunked none but he looked a prospect and a good height too and Isaac Buckley gave a bit in the middle. Josh Burke badly rolled his ankle just before half time and didn't do much after that and Ninja looked like he needed the run.

Pinched it in the league after getting jumped early, playing some great footy in the second and third quarters and disappearing in the last. The slingshot from half back with the manic run and spread that South's play is hard to counter when they get going. I though Sinclair and Bell played blinders across half back and disrupted what would have been plenty of South's forward entries. Byrne really good, particularly in the last 10 minutes when someone needed to break the lines and I thought Cody Leggett did a lot of bullocking work clearing space around stopages, laying tackles and blocking Suban and other seagull spreaders. No stats for that but a massive influence on the game. And the mark and goal of Langdon in that second quarter was exciting. We look a lot better side - particularly with the 6-6-6 rule in effect - with him and Garstone and Bennell's aerial talents.

Hendo tag on Schloithe didn't work for mine.

Onwards and upwards for the next challenge.

Thanks Dazzler.
If I understood you right, you think Langdon may be a prospect?
I liked the look of him last week.
I think he once he picks up the tempo of league footy he may be alright.
Listening on the radio it seemed to me that our skills weren't up to last week's standard.
That may have been the South's pressure?
Good to beat one of last year's finalists.

Good summary Dazz. They jumped us with their talls in charge and their run was all but unstoppable. With minutes to go I said that we needed to get back in the game before quarter time and 2 quick goals did the trick.
Then, as you say, we took over in second and third quarter and look to be winners but we allowed Souths to jump us again early in the last and had to snap out of the fadeout to get up and hold them out for the last few minutes.
I don't think that we should underestimate this win. Twice we were challenged with fast run and spread that normally loses us games but we were able to find a way to stem the flow and then hold out to the finish.
I see some development here that will, if we continue to grow it, lead to us being much more competitive against the likes of Subi, Claremont and WP . We are a work in progress and learning fast.
The Ressies umpiring was the worst I have ever seen. Problem is they are too young and inexperienced.
I take nothing away from Souths but that was totally unacceptable.

By the way, a sensational goal by Guy Langdon from a great mark and difficult angle and a long way out.

Absolutely I do. He was a bit off the pace last week in his debut but very good yesterday as a target up forward and giving Eyres support in the ruck against an A-grade ruckman in Higgins. As you say, as he gets up to the tempo of WAFL footy I reckon he'll be a real handful.

As Smokey said, that was a huge win for the club yesterday. Those are the games we nearly always tend to lose and to get the points yesterday - and to have to fight back to get it - should be enormous for their belief and confidence.

I have been watching Jack Steel. He is listed as 192/85 and looks a reasonably strong body. I actually did not think he looked 192 but I will have another look next week. He does look a prospect.
The bloke I do like very much is Nyika John. Only 18 with the body of a 24 yo. 184/83 another very strong body and he is a very smart athletic player. I think that he may get a chance sooner or later to show that he is up to WAFL standard.
