The "bulldozer" implies a complete cleanout which is a ridiculous notion.
However, as I alluded to in my previous post, we have three squads that have underperformed in 2018 as they have in recent seasons and that cannot take the club forward as a whole.
There is some talent forming a solid foundation on which to start building the future. Before you start jumping onto me consider where we have been and where we are now. Answer: right back where we started several times in previous seasons and didn't get the job done properly.
Yes, believe or not I am suggesting that we have to rebuild and that wont be done in one pre-season. It is going to take time.
First, IMHO, we need six recruits who are good competent WAFL players or better. The likes of Sketcher, Wellingham, Johnson, and others of the ilk that Subiaco have recruited over a long period of time...seasoned players who still have much to offer.
In the meantime we are going to have to put some very hard work into our country and junior zones. We must improve this area and start getting raw talent flowing regularly into the club in far better numbers. Each year we look for talent coming through the colts and under 16s but every year there are only a handful that we seem to get and they either get drafted, drift to other clubs or go and play in the ammos or in the country.
We just have to do better in this area.

Smokey if you were picking a side for next week who would be your automatic selections?

Unless we sort out our Rucks and KPP’s down our spine then nothing will change.
I have no faith in those that run our club.

Also Earl will need his team to play finals in 2019,we can’t just keep meandering along with the same lack of results year after year.

WB, I can only go on what we currently have on our list...
Jared Bell, Laine Wilkins, Corey Byrne, CJ,Corey Yeo, Michael Sinclair, Cody Ninyette,
Matt Taylor, Ben Giobbo, Brant Colledge, Clayton Giblett, Cody Leggett, Sydney Stack##, Mickey Bennell, Luke English##, Ian Hill##, Blake Johnson, Kristian Cary, Anton Scotney,

NB. Likely to lose 2 if not 3 to next AFL draft ##. We can't lose all the rest at once. Take the three ## out and we would barely have a squad of 22 let alone a competitive ressies side. And we would need to ensure that more than a handful of our colts boys would stay at the club and step up.
BUT, most of all we will need six very good recruits next season to meet our glaring deficiencies.
No doubt we all have differing views. I don't underestimate the task. My view will probably seen as extreme but it is MHO.

The bulldozer is for off field not on field.
We do not have the capacity off field to take us forward.
Top down.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

The encouraging aspect of your list Smokey is that Jones is the only player likely to be not capable of improvement in 2019. As others have mentioned we need to add to our ruck stocks, whilst Eyres battles manfully his work around the ground doesn't hurt the opposition and he only registered 3 majors for the year.

Garstone really showed promise before his injury setbacks so if he was fit and we could snag another gem or two like Michael Bennell that could really lift our chances of playing finals.

Does anyone know if the other Vic recruit we had lined up at the start of the year is a chance of returning?

Gordon Narrier was only taken as a rookie selection so believe he may only have a 1 year tenure unless NM look to extend, so a possible return. Zareth Roe would also be a handy addition if he returned.

With EP going alone again no doubt its going to be a competitive recruiting market!!
