Yep it was a terrific effort.

Imo Perth teams for whatever reason have played better at Claremont oval and the Showgrounds as opposed to us playing them at Lathlain Park.

Blake Johnson played deep forward and presented really well. Clunked some big marks and kicked well for goal. He's a real talent and so is John Levien who set up 70m plays with some great runs out of defence, particularly in that third quarter when we surged back into the match.

For me it was Cody Leggett who dragged us back into that game in the second and third quarters when he initiated a number of chains that resulted in goals through sheer aggression. His return to the side and the inside strength of recruits like Yeo and Giobbi have made a huge difference to the team this season.

I was impressed with the way players like Tubby Taylor, Brent Edmonds and Laine Wilkins organised the backline and forward defensive structures in that third and fourth quarters. I was sitting down on the fence line and could hear them organising the youngsters in positioning around stop plays. We've got a lot better at that since Earl's been there.

Claremont do play the most bizarre switch footy out their backline. It's like the ghost of Damo is still there. Our boys forced a few turnovers due to their obsession with switching across half back. It's hard to fathom why a team with such powerful key forwards would move the ball so slowly out of defence.

I agree Leggett was terrific, Wilkins with 19 possessions and Edmonds with 20 possessions had a really good impact, and as a team the defence held up well particularly in th second half. I think the positive out of the day was the Team defence, across all 22 players.

We still got caught out a couple of times with Claremont players getting behind the defence.

Yes we did. Maister got out the back a couple of times for one of his goals and Worobac gifted him two more before Nicholas clonked him with a ripper coat hanger and the wounded seagull went off.
